The Definitive TWF World XI thread (1986-present) - CENTRE FORWARD VOTING OPEN

Right...I didn't envisage this happening :icon_lol: We have a tie. I blame Cyber for voting for the fucking shit Dunga as his #1. Vieira wins due to most 1st place votes.

Patrick Vieira - 35
Andrea Pirlo - 35
Roy Keane - 33
Lothar Matthäus - 25
Claude Makelele - 14
Sergio Busquets - 12
N'Golo Kante - 8
Xabi Alonso - 6
Frank Rijkaard - 6
Fernando Redondo - 5
Xavi - 4
Bryan Robson - 3
Dunga - 3
Edgar Davids - 2
Didier Deschamps - 2
Gennaro Gattuso - 2
Mark van Bommel - 1

CM voting open. All rounders are fine, genuine number 10s (not Messi) are fine...just need to have played predominantly centrally and not really be a striker. Six picks as two go through.

I'm out for most of tomorrow so voting open until let's say 9pm tomorrow and I'll sort the scores out when I get in.

Mods, title, please, thanks, etc.

Zinedine Zidane
Luka Modric
Paul Gascoigne
Ruud Gullit
Frank Lampard
Kaka

I haven't picked Maradona as I didn't see his best years. Anyone who says they watched him for Napoli in the late 80s is lying as Serie A wasn't on English TV and I didn't see Mexico 86. By 1990 he was past it.

I'm off away for two days and will try to get on but as it's my wedding anniversary I might not so how many CM's do I need to choose?
1; Patrick Vieira
2; Zinadine Zidan
3; Andrea Pirlo

if needed...
4; Frank Lampard
5; Paul Scholes
6; Steven Gerrard

Mike...your #1 is now invalid as Vieira is in. So I've bumped everyone up one and you need a new #6

Luka Modric
Zinedine Zidane
Paul Scholes
Paul Gascoigne
Andres Iniesta
Xabi Alonso

Xavi.
Zinedine Zidane
Andres Iniesta
Paul Scholes
Kaka
Luka Modric

Zinedine Zidane
Andres Iniesta
Frank Lampard
Xavi
Ruud Gullit
Paul Scholes

After Dunga, let's see what little pearls I pick for my cm!

Zidane
Seedorf
Valderama
Lampard
Gerrard
Xavi

Dunga never had a bad game and allowed the rest of the team to do what they did best.

Edited to avoid controversy. Vigo out Xavi in.

Figo isn't a central midfielder.

Carlos Valderrama, who spent the vast majority of his career in domestic Colombian football and has Montpellier as the biggest club on his CV, who was pony at three World Cups (where Colombia went out in the group phase twice), is one of your six favourite central midfielders of all time? :icon_lol:

Ok then :)

Exactly why I haven't. I don't remember the 86 World Cup as I'd have been 5 at the time.
