The Definitive TWF World XI thread (1986-present) - CENTRE FORWARD VOTING OPEN

:icon_lol:

Glad I'm not the only one mind!

This is tough, there are so many types of defensive midfielders. I wouldn't consider Pirlo a DM because he's not great defensively but that's where he plays. Kante / Keane are nowhere near as accomplished on the ball but are better defensively and would be ball-winner type

Yeah, hardest ones to get right.. So many great players in there

Keane was twice the player Kante is. Absolutely brilliant at his peak both defensively, going forward and his leadership was outstanding.

Keane was amazing. Just watch that game vs Juventus in 1999. Comfortably my number one.

Viera was the better all-round player of the two

Well you're wrong. Viera on his day was magnificent - superb tackling, excellent passing and brilliant ability to bring the ball forward
They're on a par for me. Both were absolutely brilliant at all of those things. Keane's abilities going forward were always undercooked.

I'm with Tredman, i loved watching Vieira play. It's annoying but when every player since with similar physical characteristics is compared to him it shows how good he was and what an impact he had.I would never play him as a defensive midfielder though.

It's ok...If he doesn't get in this time I'll be going for him again in the "box to box" role

I haven't even started on my love for a different follically challenged French midfielder

I'm off away for two days and will try to get on but as it's my wedding anniversary I might not so how many CM's do I need to choose?
1; Patrick Vieira
2; Zinadine Zidan
3; Andrea Pirlo

if needed...
4; Frank Lampard
5; Paul Scholes
6; Steven Gerrard

I'm really surprised that Gattuso wasn't meantioned a but more.
