I know it's an age thing and the "grey haired wrinklies" are going to be accused of whinging but I really can't believe a player (Keane) with a whole 29 goals for Wolves is going to be "selected" ahead of a player who was our record goal scorer before Bully, scoring 194 goals in 485 games and playing almost his entire career in the top flight.

I've never seen Billy Wright play but if I named a "best ever" Wolves team he'd be in it!
Have you kids heard of a new-fangled invention on that there interweb thing? It's called YouTube  :icon_lol:

I didn't make my choice of Keane because of his goal return. For me he is the most technically gifted player we have had here for the 25 years I've followed Wolves, he had to be in my top 2

You are quite correct and bearing in mind Dougan and Richards played on pitches that resembled ploughed fields they deserve more credit than they get, if you re read this thread you can play guess the age by the picks :)

Kudos to Lycan for picking Vio :)

Damn forgot all about Henri Camara. Not as in I'd pick him. Just that he hadn't crossed my mind in ages. I have his name on a shirt and JUDAS written on it ha.

I was also close to putting Akinbiyi in T-Dan, one of those I really liked as a youngster.

Christ, that was tough. Gutted I couldn't find a place for Ned Kelly, I loved him as a kid but he was just edged out by better players. Adored Sturridge too, his one goalscoring run was magical, but no can do.

As for questioning Keane's inclusion, some people must have a short memory. The kid was mesmerising; I'd have selected him even if he'd just scored a couple of goals for us. Wonderful player.

I have to be true to what I saw and rate at the highest level

Seriously?
Yeah actually. I was interested as to whether you valued a hat trick v Albion or hat trick v Blues more. Neither did much else, though I wasn't entirely serious about Jason Roberts given 0 first team appearances.

Hence any of the various Roberts to play in the era mentioned are an unusual choice.

Following on from the successful World XI and UK/Ireland XI threads (we shall ignore the present day one which didn't work out, you can't win 'em all), we're moving on to the best that Wolves have had to offer.

The voting system is as follows; when we're picking for a position that only has one candidate (you only ever have one keeper, one right back etc), you get three picks to put in order - first choice gets three points, second choice two, third choice one. Once the voting for each position is done, I'll tot up all the points and the winner comes out in our own form of democracy. For centre halves, you get six picks as there'll be two of them. Same system, six points for pick one down to one point for pick six. Any newcomers, just have a look at the other threads if you're not sure. It's pretty self-explanatory. We normally do one vote a day.

We'll be going 4-4-2 on this one as that's what we've largely played during all the time that we've been watching Wolves, and I'm setting the threshold back to 1970 - because as undoubtedly brilliant as the Cullis teams were, there can't be more than about three people on here who can genuinely remember them playing. But this does give everyone a chance to pick players going back a long way. Personally I would say "vote for who you've seen" but that's just me, if you really do want to vote for someone from the 70s when you weren't even born, well it's up to you. I trust you have good reasons for doing so.

If we could avoid comedy answers please, because it isn't that hilarious to put Matt Doherty, Frank Nouble and Darren Ferguson down. It's the kind of material that Duncan Norvelle would reject.

The order will be GK, RB, LB, CH (x2), RM, LM, CM (x2), ST (x2), Manager. Make sure you pick players where they actually appeared for Wolves on a regular basis, so no cheating and chucking Robbie Keane on the wing or whatever.

Keepers up first then, three picks. Away you go.

The team:

------------------------Matt Murray---------------------

Kevin Foley----Dean Richards----Joleon Lescott------Andy Thompson

Helder Costa-----Alex Rae--------Colin Cameron-----Bakary Sako

-------------------CF----------------CF--------------------

Manager:

I have to say that's a well balanced side so far. Good both sides, in the air, bite in midfield. Now for the goals
