The Darts Thread

It wouldn't have taken much to be an improvement on the previous game. Harbour vs Caldwell was some of the worst darts I've ever seen.

I caught the end of that, and was glad I hadn't seen all of it!

Reynolds v Blackwell was really good stuff. They were well matched so it was interesting. The Harbour game was utter shite.

Mind you, the averages were much the same across all the matches - 81 plays 78.

MVG must be shitting himself.

I did see the averages and they were pretty appalling. I think because the last game was played at a decent pace it papered over the cracks somewhat. Reynolds completely went off the rails after the third set which explains his poor average.

Just said on the darts that Kevin Kyle is now a darts player after retiring from football through injury. He beat Richard Veenstra in the Scottish Open last year, so must be a decent standard.

Veenstra looking pretty handy. Had 127, 144 and 121 checkouts, and a 96.7 average at the end of the 2nd set.

Though just missed three darts at D10 to allow Ross Montgomery to take the second set.

However, the result is a surprise and deserved win for Casey Gallagher (who looks to be about 4 foot 6). Deta Hedman got blown away in the final set.

Yeah I thought she looked tiny as well! It's a wonder she can reach to get her darts out of double top.

Wesley Harms out without troubling the scorers. Bit of a surprise. 3-0 loss with an 84 average. Pretty unlucky with the scoreline.

It amazes me that for such a reserved tournament how many players have hardcore dance tracks for their walk-ons.

Scott Mitchell out to Geert De Vos 4-2.

Blimey. This woman on now Patricia Farrell really is almost too small to reach double top! It just showed you her practicing and she was reaching up to get darts out of the bull.

The interview with Corrine Hammondbefore the game revealed that she doesn't even have a dart board at home and only plays for fun!

She hit a nice 96 to win it though.

This Adams v Smith encounter should be pretty good.

Fitton v De Vos was a fine game. Really enjoyed it even though the averages were nothing much in PDC terms.

Yeah it was good. De Vos really should have won having the throw in the last set.

I'm a bit bemused that the ladies SF is still only first to two sets, whereas the mens QF is first to five. There's no good reason for it, and it just seems condescending to the women who play. At least up it to first to three.

I agree but they seem to worry about time to fit the matches in.

Jamie Hughes throwing very well in terms of average but cannot get near Adams.
