The MC just said it was a tremendous final. Of course it was. All those involved with Lakeside, BDO and BBC darts live in a world of delusion.

The BDO may as well combine the mens and the ladies competitions. They need to do something to make them stand out as the level of darts isn't good enough in general.

I don't see why there should be any gender separation in darts anyway. Same with snooker.
 
Snooker's a bit different - what's the average height of a female these days in Britain, 5'5'' or something? They'd be forever using the rest.
 
Anastasia did at least try to compete with the men on the PDC in a few tournaments. Back in the BDO what has she got to look forward to? Beating up Dieter Hedmann and Trina "barely good enough for the Wantage A league" Gulliver.

I hadn't considered height to be honest. Still, the best women should be able to enter the men's tour if they choose to.

The thing with Waites is that he has proved at the GSoD that he can handle the TV, the pressure etc. Just go for it, they'd probably let him waive Q School for a year at least anyway.
 
Absolutely. I think he should definitely go for it. So should Wesley Harms. Young enough to possibly improve and has a decent game. O'Shea can play in the GSoD, and is better than tonight, but is he now too long in the tooth to want to step up? Richie George and Martin Adams can play each other in the final for years to come on the BBC. Stan Hullis can give them a game in the semis.
 
Bunting could probably move over too. He wasn't great in this tournament but he's a good player.

The BDO can keep that fat prick Kong. In fact not even sure the PDC would have him back after last time.
 
Watched the final, very average stuff. Always tough to play a high standard however when your opponent is struggling as badly as O'Shea was. But as said already the standard as a whole is inferior to that of the PDC, though not surprisingly with the difference in prize money available in both codes.
 
PDC have confirmed that Lakeside semi-finalists - Waites, O'Shea, Harms and George- have all rejected the opportunity of PDC tour cards

Don't know why George even got offered one, he'd get bummed in every single game.
 
I think they realise they are actually too crap to be on the pdc.
 
Waites definitely isn't though. Someone like Vincent Van der Voort made £90k out of the PDC last year. Waites is better than him, he made about £20k. So as long as he is in the BDO, he is one slip up in the World Championships from having a year where he doesn't make enough to live on out of darts. And they were offering him a tour card, no need to qualify, straight entry into most of the big TV tournaments.

George is nowhere near good enough and O'Shea is too old, I can understand their reasoning.
 
I think Harms could do reasonably well (as in make a living) on the PDC. Terrific playa. It's all down to the Chairman though, I know he has been trying hard to get him in...
