Think he's been on the decline for a while, his USP was death bowling, we didn't even have him doing that. Could do what India used to with Jadeja, bat first, then a crap fielder (Hales or Malan in our team) goes off "injured" at halfway and he comes on as 12th man

Just spare batsman generally, notionally he could bat anywhere from 1-6. And the nearest thing we have to a back up keeper if Foakes goes down at short notice.

- Definitely wouldn't bat any higher than 4, Root and Stokes will obviously play, so where does he go

So is he the back up for Jacks, at 7 or 8? But I wouldn't want him bowling in Test cricket to any particular extent, he's shit (he can burgle wickets in T20 with dross but that's about it)

There had to be someone more suitable than that, surely.
