Excellent in the field. Poor with the bat. This was a chance to get a huge net run rate plus and has been wasted even though the win is going to happen.

England win with 11 balls to spare

There was something in this pitch as shown by the low scores.
Maybe the rain earlier in the day, who knows?

I keep reading/hearing how we must always play Stokes, but his T20 record is pretty rubbish and has been for a while

The calculation doesn't take into account the way T20 has evolved. 10 an over from there is a piss of piss nowadays

Think we'd have won without the rain as Mo has been in superb form all year in T20, but we knew the DLS score, we had to keep more of an eye on it. Our own fault and some good bowling by Ireland.

Didn't want Hales back as he's a cunt, there's no longevity in it and I don't think he's that good any more. Seen nothing to change my mind. Stokes is justifying his place in the team with the ball, but it's failed putting him at 4 and we needn't stick with it.

The group is wide open now though, good for the neutral.

Also a tick for the pitch preparation so far, spot on. Offer something for everyone.

The cards are heavily stacked in your favour batting second in a T20 international when rain is around so we have only ourselves to blame.

Only ourselves to blame on that one I agree with DW had the rain not come I think we’d have won but the damage was done way before. Woakes bowling was atrocious, Buttler only lasting 2 balls and Malan plodding around for to long.

I'm so angry at this game. I've had to have a couple of whiskeys to calm myself #fuming

The Malan plodding was the big issue imo, DLS and the clouds were very obvious. He should have just swung, missed and got out earlier.

Yeah especially when it’s 5 runs on DWL method, I really don’t like the method especially in T20 but it’s the same for all and we knew it would probably come into play.
Lose another and that’ll be it probably you aren’t getting out the group with 2 defeats.

If we beat Australia and Sri Lanka we'll probably be ok unless New Zealand absolutely batter us in between.

Even accepting that it's always going to be hit and miss to an extent when you open in T20, it hasn't gone great, has it. An absolute pudding in the field too these days.

I stand by what I said a few weeks ago, it's a purely short-term measure (and a bad one too IMO when Salt was already there and we could have just picked him). Don't think he'll play for England again after this tournament. We aren't considering him for ODIs at all.

In county news, Chris Rushworth has signed for Warks. Two year deal with the possibility of a third. I mean it says nothing for long-term planning (he'll be pushing 37 by the time he plays a game), but we nearly got relegated due to having no viable attack all summer, so...

Got a bit of luck in the end, but hung on, tournament is a complete success for us even if lose the next 3.
If we could get a win against the Afghans on Friday might just get 4th in the group which would be enough to qualify automatically for next one, which will be big show on the arm for the game here.

I'm supporting Netherlands in this match. Can't stand India. Went to a game over there once and had to share a cubicle with a local as there were not enough free!

Toilet cubicle? Could you not have done what we do in every other country in the world? Waited and gone next.
