The Cricket Thread

37/4 and there may not be too much left to play tomorrow with the way it's going.

I've been fortunate to see all three play too.
I was lucky enough to see all of Donald, Lara and Pollock for Warks.

As well as Dermot Reeve's medium pace dobbers which you really cannot put a price on.

Garfield Sobers (with his brother Gerry) played for Sneyd in the Norths Staffs South Cheshire league.

Men against boys stuff, we’ve been very good but for god sake give touring sides time to prepare in conditions etc for the sake of test cricket.

Wicket at the death, 79/6 and still 171 to make us bat again

You aren't ever getting tour games like you used to, those days are gone

No but I’d be amazed if the windies lay a glove on us this series, I’m being idealistic and Test cricket doesn’t carry the financial power T20 does so it’s basically the ashes piggy backing the whole of test cricket.

You could give them five tour games and they aren't getting near us if they're batting Jason Holder at 6.

The best you could realistically do is revert to what we had at points in the 1990s/2000s and have a white ball series beforehand and you might get some overlap of players.

Just want games going at least into day 4 with some jeopardy. It’s at a point I’m willing one of the WI batsman to get a ton and show some fight.

Just caught up with yesterday’s highlights.

Very impressed by Smith with the bat, played some lovely shots.

This isn't going to last long.

What a delivery by Jimmy.

Drops a caught and bowled to finish the game and his career :ROFLMAO:

So there we have it... the end of a great career before its time.

I'm still bewildered by the decision to pension him off when he looks in great nick. How much could England's bowlers learn from him on the field over the next few months? I'd say, a lot. Still, it's done. The Greatest Fast Bowler England has ever seen.

Thank you Jimmy Anderson.

Emotional stuff. I don't think it's the right call, he could have dipped in and out of the team all summer as required and we don't have a massive long queue of bowlers waiting (not with the injuries to Cook, Tongue, Mahmood etc and Archer not in consideration).

But overall it's a feeling of gratitude that I got to see that career in full, right from day one.

Pretty much this and unless he was blocking someone's progress or wasn't still the best pick available, he should be playing.

All that said, what a great career.

Oh sorry. My mistake. Doesnt matter what you think the test record is his not Warne's
