I was lucky enough to see all of Donald, Lara and Pollock for Warks.I've been fortunate to see all three play too.
Garfield Sobers (with his brother Gerry) played for Sneyd in the Norths Staffs South Cheshire league.I was lucky enough to see all of Donald, Lara and Pollock for Warks.
As well as Dermot Reeve's medium pace dobbers which you really cannot put a price on.
Wicket at the death, 79/6 and still 171 to make us bat again
You aren't ever getting tour games like you used to, those days are gone
You could give them five tour games and they aren't getting near us if they're batting Jason Holder at 6.
The best you could realistically do is revert to what we had at points in the 1990s/2000s and have a white ball series beforehand and you might get some overlap of players.
It's insane. Should have allowed him to at least continue long enough to overtake Warne as the leading test bowler. That's an absolutely ridiculous delivery. Christ.
Why are we forcing him into retirement? FFS.
Pretty much this and unless he was blocking someone's progress or wasn't still the best pick available, he should be playing.Emotional stuff. I don't think it's the right call, he could have dipped in and out of the team all summer as required and we don't have a massive long queue of bowlers waiting (not with the injuries to Cook, Tongue, Mahmood etc and Archer not in consideration).
But overall it's a feeling of gratitude that I got to see that career in full, right from day one.
