The Cricket Thread

the current World Cup format is a drag and end up with numerous dead rubbers.
Could so easily have a 16 team tournament divided into 4 groups then QF, SF & Final.
Means less dead rubbers more knock out cricket. But they won’t do it as it probably means less games and revenue.

Won't do it in case India don't get out of the group, meaning they only have 3 games.
This format guaranteed 9 games for revenue.

125/0 and 157/1 to 209 all out for Sri Lanka.

Dick Ayres selected for a Lions camp. He burst on the scene with a few wickets but faded in the final few games of the season. Have the BBC got this wrong and it is the other Ollie Robinson selected?

Edit -Yes its the Durham Ollie Robinson.

No, think it's the chunky lad.

Not anywhere near the thinking for white ball cricket it seems and hasn't played since the Ashes, so makes sense, especially as his fitness appeared to have gone to shit again.

Edit: Or not! He definitely hasn't played for months though.

This tournament really needs a close game. Every match is very one sided so there isn’t a lot to get excited about yet.

It’s been boring as fuck as said before this format is a drag. The only remotely exciting thing has come at our expense.

You moan about this, the bloody rugby world cup has been going on since about March. It's ruining the Corrie scheduling.

SA are 47/4 against the Netherlands, still need 194 more to win in 30 overs. Massive tail too with either Rabada or Maharaj at 8.

145/7 and it's Miller gone.

Just the bowlers left, 101 off 70 needed, Dutch huge favourites now

145/7 now... This will be a huge shock and a brilliant victory for Netherlands

It is, Afghanistan qualified automatically and obviously would be more favoured in Asia, plus SA looked good before today whereas we didn't particularly before Sunday

Put down some criminally easy catches, let NZ off the hook
