Bairstow gone. Plays on to a good length ball from Hazelwood.Still think 300-350 would be a par score on this, bit in it for the bowlers but no demons.

Poor shot from Brook that. Drives at a wide one. Rode his luck but played some cracking shots as well.

Thoughts on this from BBC Sport:

Sean Richard: There is the problem with Bairstow. Gets runs when it's easy, but let's you down when you really need him. Get Foakes in.

Kevin Ticehurst: I can’t see Bairstow being on a plane to India in January for the test series there, I really can’t.

ZS-NVB: That's the problem with Bairstow. He'll hit 99* when the game is already won (or not...), but he can't put an innings together when we actually need it.

I agree.

That last statement is patently bollocks when you look at last summer.

Foakes isn't what people think he is but I do expect him to keep in India.

Glen McGrath on TMS talking about if Australia had held the Brook catch Where England would be. Well Glen where might the series be if England had held their catches in test matches 1 & 2.

I agree.

Codswallop. The nature of his game, leads to him getting out early in this manner. Look at last summer, everyone wanted him out after a similar dismissal at Lords but then went onto to score hugely in an unprecedented in history series of runs chases in fourth innings of tests to win England matches. The only Englishman to score a ton on the last Ashes tour down under too.

283 all out. 50 short but overcast conditions should assist us. Exciting, all action stuff as usual 😄

Would’ve liked to have broken 300 but it’s by no means a terrible score that McGrath and Maxwell were suggesting on TMS.

Warner with another his "look fine and get out" affairs. One more innings to go in England.

Moeen ruled out of today with a groin problem.

Between this injury and his finger, has not been the greatest comeback of all time!

14 runs of 9 overs this morning have Australia got Tavare and Boycott at the crease

We haven't given them anything to score off. They're flatly refusing to drive the odd, short, wide delivery. Good bowling and good batting.
