The CHRISTMAS Thread

So far we've had Co-Op, Lidl and Sainsburys. Sainsburys being the nicest so far.
I've had Tesco and Greggs so far. The Tesco ones were iced and weren't that great. The Greggs ones were really nice though.

My wife reckons I liked the Aldi Salted Caramel ones last year.

You don't need to fuck around with a mince pie. As long as the pastry isn't too dry and the filling is nicely spiced, then I'm happy.

Do you prefer your mince pies warm or cold?

What is "mince", exactly?

In mince pies it is fruit. Original Mince Pies had minced meat (essentially small bits of meat) in them but I guess we changed it as that doesn't go well with cream or custard.

Like a fruitcake?

Assuming they aren't just the same thing named differently here and there.

Yeah. Normally when we talk about mince it's ground beef, what you'd put in a chili con carne. But not at Christmas.

Minced fruit inside a small pastry case.

Do you lot do "traditional" American desserts like pecan pie and apple pie?

We have apple pie, yeah.

We have Christmas pudding which I doubt you have (wise move, it's rank). It's like a fruit sponge. Horrible heavy stuff.

Yeah all Christmas puddings would be better off just fired straight into the sun.

Odd dessert to have after a massive meal but loved it as a kid but that was probably more to do with the cash in it.

My parent's first Christmas together was just Christmas pudding, no main meal.

That impressed me.

Christmas pudding, apple pie, mince pies, crumble, sponge puddings, strudel, love em all, pretty much any pud as long as it comes with good proper custard and not that creme anglais crap........whats a pecan?

It's a bird with a really big beak that can fit loads of fish in,or that monster off the last episode of Dr who I think

I can't tell if you're being facetious.
