The CHRISTMAS Thread

Turkey, beef, sprouts, yorkshire pud, hasselbacks, french beans.
My 2 least favourite meats but my missus insists and I dont care enough to kick up a fuss.

Seafood 'medley' to start. Turkey/pork, chestnut stuffing, roast spuds, sprouts, carrots, swede, parsnips, red cabbage, and cauliflower in cheese sauce as a main course and have what you want for pudding!

Meatless roast baked with potatoes, carrots, onion; roast parsnips and sweet potatoes; sprouts, cauliflower, green beans, broccoli, peas, sweetcorn. Some sort of fruit pie for dessert.
Potatoes, onion, carrots will be fresh, everything else cooked from frozen.

Turkey, pigs in blankets, stuffing, roast tatas, roasted parsnips, mash, sprouts, carrots, peas, cauliflower cheese.
No starter for me and probably no pudding.

What’s everyone having for Christmas lunch?
We are keeping it simple this year with a corn fed chicken from the local butcher with roasties, sprouts, peas, carrots, mash and leeks in cheese sauce, with a home made bread sauce.

Bubble and squeak for Boxing Day.

Kelly Bronze Turkey. Pommes Dauphinoise, sous vide carrots, roast parsnips, pigs in blankets, sprouts and bacon. Gravy.

Banging.

I should add that surely Lucy is the name of choice for a Bronze turkey.

I always get a Wolves Calendar for Christmas, I hope I bloody don't get one this year. Having to look at that shower of shit every time I empty the cats litter tray.

I have a signed Bully calendar for 2026, he twisted my arm to buy one at Bridgnorth Christmas Lights Switch On the other week!

Does anyone crack their own nuts any more? I remember there always being a dish of assorted nuts with a set of crackers in the lounge. It always felt good if you got your nut out whole instead of in bits.

Not really. Brazils were the greatest challenge.

A set of nut crackers was the third thing I made in metalwork at school, they were actually pretty good and worked? Even on Brazil nuts.
My mum always bought Brazil nuts at Christmas even though no-one really liked them. I usually ended up eating them once all the chocolates and biscuits were gone.

Going to grab some mince pies to try. How exciting...

Probably a kid and 20 years since I tried them and might be one of those things you end up liking/not minding when older. Like tinned tomatoes*, mushrooms, stuffing and custard off the top of my head.

*still can't eat fresh ones.
