The CHRISTMAS Thread

I was hoping to be asleep by 10 but the cunts five doors down decided to have a massive party and kept me up most of the night…
I was at work at 05:15 this morning so in bed by 10... Just after midnight the cunts 2 doors down decided that a full on firework display was needed to show how considerate they are

Same here, fireworks were going off all night but midnight was ludicrous. Nobody was sleeping through that.

It’s completely illegal to buy fireworks here so public displays only. Led to a nice quiet night

For the last 2 weeks I've had my 2nd nasty chest infection in 6 months, so while my better half went to visit family in York over New Year, I spent NYE on my own watching the NFL. It wasn't the worst way to spend it, to be honest. Anyway, happy, healthy, and peaceful New Year, everyone.

Happy New Year. A first sober one ever I think led me to realise how shit Jools Holland’s Hootenanny was.

Yeah it's been not very good for a while, used to be good but lately they seem to be obsessed with ancient stars who quite frankly their voices are well past it. Rod Stewart was probably the best of the old timers as he's changed the style of music he does. Two of my favourite singers from back in the day, Paul Jones and P.P. Arnold were just not good, felt a bit embarrassed for them.
Did like the young Irish woman whose name escapes me, will have to look her up.

As usual, a bit late getting to this. You see it dropped off the 'What's new' thread and then I was away...
went to bed at 9pm New Years Eve, had to get up at 3.30 to drive to Belfast International Garbage Airport. for an early flight to Spain to try to sort out Mother in law .
She Has Rapid Onset Dimentia with a couple of cupsful of Schitzophrenia. Very sad. But Jane lost her Dad to cancer on 3rd of May and his last reported words regarding his time with wife in Spain were, "I'm glad to get out of this fucking hellhole!"
Then like a light switch Jane lost her Mum too.
The woman who rages in 35 phone calls a day that her daughter, (Jane my wife ) is stealing from her all the time, money bedding, clothes, computer, documents and on and on is not the mother she used to know. Of course. It's very sad.
So we're trying to sort that awful business out.
We buy her food and get it delivered and she stores it in the dishwasher and washing machine, because if the cleaners find it in her fridge they'll steal it!
She doesn't have any fucking cleaners.
Anyway, enough of that.
Happy new year guys - this on the 11th of Jan!!

If anyone has a friend or family member who has dementia, I'd be grateful for a contact.

Hi WH, it's Mrs HW here and I'm really sorry to hear about your MIL.
I've got a fair bit of experience with older people and dementia (work) and my own Dad had Vascular Dementia too.
I'm really happy to chat. email or generally lend an ear. HW can send you contact details of my FB or email.
A couple of things are ringing alarm bells for me so I will say no more at this point but always happy to help.
I never knew Belfast airport was named that :)

Irish Post Office!
Actually called An Post.
Wouldn't recruit temporary workers before Christmas to help with massive sorting issues.
Wouldn't recruit temporary workers in local sorting office either, then told postmen not to work past 12 noon on Saturday 23rd, and wouldn't pay postmen overtime....
Result? I know it's not important, (but who would know?) We got a Christmas card delivered from the UK today. Posted 13th Dec.
Shocking!

As I spent last summer trying to organise a Christmas Party for work I have already had a load of calls from venues I approached last year.

Old retail head always in play on these - If I still worked in that industry I would be knee deep in Xmas shizzle about now

I remember proof reading and legal checking of the Christmas catalogue started in July at one of the big retailers I worked for back in the day

Such a big chunk of retail and hospitality income from November - December period. Fuck that up and your business could be done. July is Christmas planning time but I do enjoy how annoyed people get from see a tiny Tree in a pub advertising their Party packages.

Had a 1-2-1 with my manager today and was asked to start consider what leave (if any) I want over Christmas.
