The Advice Thread

Think I have been there! Certainly been to a Theatre in Stoke/Hanley so will presume it was that one. From what I remember, it was OK. Decent size place and not a crap hole.


Odd one from me here - Chucking my car on a ferry on Tuesday (Birkenhead - Belfast).
The only info we have is we have to be on 40 mins before departure. But no times given on when boarding for cars opens. So, anyone who has done this kind of thing, how long before departure did you arrive?
 
Not used that ferry but every other one I've used, you turn up at your alloted time, usually 30-60 minutes before sailing, they give you a numbered lane to go to, they put you in a queue, then board when the assistants tell you, simple in my experience....
 
The Regent is a lovely theatre. Sound is good and your vision is never blocked.

Order your drinks for the interval and they be there waiting for you at the back of the theatre.

I've seen Derren Brown, Chicago and The Woman in Black and all three were excellent.

Thats good, the show we want to go and see is on in various venues but Stoke is the nearest and its on there around the wife's birthday....I won't say what the show is cos you'll all take the piss

Tell us....we all have shit shows we have been to in the name of keeping the other half happy.

I'll dive in and say Cats - What a load of fucking bollocks that is and adults were having their faces painted to look like cats before the show. Fuck off.
 
Right I've been on the website, it's definitely Menopause the Musical 2, sorry to break it to you mate it's not a patch on the first one !!

very much this, but also there shouldn't really be a snobbery about this. I've taken mrs jelly to see The Tigger Movie, and various other Winnie the pooh related things. Fairly sure she's also been to some drivel (in her opinion) for things I have wanted to see, but that's what other halves do!
 
Haha, it's the musical based around 'Bat Out Of Hell'..one of my fav all time albums.
We saw it on its first run a couple of years ago at Manchester Opera House. They're doing a longer run this year (held over from last year) with more venues.. we loved it....cheesy storyline but great performances an as I said we love the original album.
 
So based on Motorway valuation of my car & remaining finance I've got £7.5k to get a car to last me for a year until anything new I order is built- needs to fit 3 kids & a dog and be reliable. Any suggestions? I'm entirely open to any ideas.

Needs to hold value pretty well so I can chop it in for the new one.
 
What do you have at the moment? Just for the sake of knowing how that works for you.
 
Got a 68 plate A6 Avant, love it but I equally love the cash I can get for it now with the daft used car prices
 
An Octavia Estate would be my initial thinking - although they aren't particularly easy to get hold of. My mate was looking for one but had to settle for a Passat instead.

The old model Leon's are good too, although slightly smaller. You could also look at a Mazda 6 estate, but again there aren't too many around.

3 car seats?
Only car with 3 full size seats that we could afford (that wasn't a 7 seater) a couple of years ago (Dec 2016) was a Citroen C4 Picasso - probably wouldn't hold much value, mind.

Nah, just one car seat - twins are big enough without now.

The 3 of them fit easily enough across the current car - which is admittedly pretty wide.

Been looking at superb estates - there are a few around. Used to have passats as company cars. Really good, but quite expensive for the age and would probably give me flashbacks.
