The Advice Thread

So that left you with Porters, Pale Ales, IPAs, Brown Ales :)
Guinness isn’t British for a start.
Seriously guys?

I wasn't going to write an exhaustive list, I assumed you would get the gist. I could have said Stout instead of Guinness (from the british isles), but in the late 70s warm Guinness was the only stout available on tap in a Wolverhampton pub.
If you wanted to be pedantic you could at least have pointed out that many lagers are brewed in the UK.

To add further pedantry, lager is not a beer.....

I tend not to be serious when I post a smiley face at the end of a post, obviously the prolonged time in the states has reduced your ability to detect sarcasm😘

Lager was always seen as a distinct group when I used to do home brewing, same as IPA which is a separate process to pale ales (to allow it to be transported out to the Brits in the empire)

You could of course have just said Beer which, universally covers any of the drinks mentioned.

I don't think there is any hard and fast rules, just someone with a little time to spare and no decent transfer rumours.

Nobody mentioning the lushness that is cider? just gets a bad rap due to pissed 14yo kids in the park or bus stations nationwide and it's way better than any of your brown beer with twigs in it nonsense, and it counts of one of your five a day

Agreed. I'd much rather drink a nice cider than beer/lager.

How remiss of me. I love a good cider, my favourite is the Robinsons which I only seem to be able to get over Shropshire way. Bloomin lovely stuff

Thatchers Gold has been my favourite for a while.

Big fan of Old Mout at the moment. This one especially in the hot weather.
