Anybody purchased those mobile barcode tickets from the Trainline? I've booked some tickets to London and reserved seats but can't see any seat numbers anywhere on the tickets via the app. It says to activate the ticket on the day of travel so I presume I'll be allocated seats when I activate it?

Yes I use it most days. The seat numbers are usually on your confirmation email.

Just a heads up, train line can sometimes add a booking fee and for long journeys using the train companies own app can be cheaper - plus if you do it with virgin you can get nectar points.

I logged into the account online and it says 'no seat allocated'. Annoying as I'm sure I clicked to reserve seats.

Was it an open ticket? I only normally use it for stafford to birmingham and back and if its london midland they never seem to allocate seats for open returns.

I didn't think it was but maybe it is. I'll contact them to see if I can get some reservations as I don't fancy travelling to London and back with the kids and having nowhere to sit.

As the end of the tax year is looming I'm wondering how best to fill out my self assessment for 2017-18: Since July I've been working full-time salaried, prior to that as a contractor with a few small freelance jobs thrown in to boot. My question is how much can/should I claim back in terms of rent, bills, other expenses and so on? Up to July or for the entire year?

Up to July, AFAIK, I also suppose it depends on how much it's worth to you - if it's not much go with what is best with the HMRC, as it's going to be much less hassle. Speaking from personal experience, getting it wrong isn't a nice experience

as tred says, i'd imagine up to July. thereafter, business expenses would be those of the business you're salaried with? this link might help if you want a quick fix.

Pretty much as I suspected, the only complicating matter is that there are some expenses (mobile phone, software) that carry through the period of full-time employment, plus renewing the website. They should be OK to claim, yes? If so, then what about claiming back rent and utilities - should they be stopped as of the end of June or carried through for the year? All I want is a minimal tax bill (better yet a rebate) and no HMRC audit of my paltry finances.

He was a legend, used to roll the original xbmp for the xbox. Plus the other is a milf, so I think you lose unfortunately.
