Summer 2022 Transfer Window

Looked like that when we were watching live. He crumpled in a heap immediately afterwards and didn't get up for ages.
Anyone know how the insurance works?
Does he sign insurance forms when he signs his contract, or is it built in, so he's instantly covered to get full wages if he's injured, or does the club include him onto their club insurance and his wages are covered by them?

You don't insure against injuries unless they're career ending and the player can't see out his contract. No-one will ever offer you that kind of cover. It'd be like me asking Allianz if they'll insure me against getting a cold and not feeling like working on any given day. It's tough luck, he'll get paid as normal (obviously won't get any appearance/goal bonuses for a while).

The only exception would be if a player gets injured on international duty and can't play for his club for ages. The FA had to pay a massive chunk of Michael Owen's Newcastle wages for a year or so after he did his knee at the 2006 World Cup.

Madness, I've no idea what sort of form/fitness/level he's at but he's got to be better than no one, and it will attract some attention.

Nice to see the club acting quickly and proactively rather then spending their energies on telling us there isn't an issue.

One of the more crazier theories I had heard about SJH tenure was that we deliberately signed injured players so we could somehow claim back more for them from the insurance companies.

In hindsight I really shouldn't be surprised at flat earthers and Covid deniers

Good one from the racist idiot in one of my old locals. Moxey told Hoddle to finish outside the playoffs so we didn't have to pay any squad bonuses. Plausible.

Popped SSN on during my lunch. Possibly the most I have heard Sky talk about us outside of a live game

Some top deep level analysis from the experts on Diego Costa, headed up by the footballing version of Liz Truss - Mr Stephen Warnock - "Costa won't be the same player that Chelsea had as he is now older"

Just listened to a South American expert on Sky, Tim Vickery, who reckons that although Costa has had his niggles while playing but should be fit enough to sign, but not match fit.
He feels the difficulty for Wolves will be settling his family and his subsequent expenses.
No other British club came in for him, just a Spanish club who couldn't meet his requirements.
If Wolves do sign him he may well make it so that other clubs regret not coming in for him by scoring a hatful.

I'm not holding out much expectations but at least he'll give us a decent presence and some fight up top.

If he can bag us at least 5 goals, then that's a bonus.

No chance he’s scoring 5, but if he can bully a defender or two and hold the ball up for a couple of our (alleged) whippet wide forwards to get involved he’ll be a success (maybe)

Therein lies the problem.

We don't create chances for anyone with any regularity.
True, but Sasa would have had an easy tap in thanks to Nunes, if Pod had actually cut the ball back across properly.

Maybe we can keep getting more bodies forward, and actually have a striker that's going to be in the middle of the box.

Personally I think the combination of Nunes and a central penalty box striker will reap rewards for us. Only based on one game but the cautious shoots of optimism were there for me.

You are almost proving the point though. Podence cocked up the pass, but got lucky, normally we just to the first part.

No sure that's what HDJ was getting at. I'll back Costa to score more goals than Raul this season and I doubt he'll play anywhere near as much football.

How we get the ball to either of them is a separate issue which hopefully the joker in charge addresses sharpish. Not that he can stop our individual players from making poor decisions.

I'd take that action considering there's a real possibility he doesn't even sign.

I think there's a bit of 'chicken and egg' with the chance creation - a bit. Raul spends most moves hiding around the back post or on the 18 yard line for a cut back. Sasa attacked the front post more often in 45 minutes than Raul has in the last 6 months. An actual penalty box presence could/should result in more chances
