Summer 2022 Transfer Window

Well I'd rather have Marmite on toast for tea tonight than dogshit pie, but as there are infinite meals that I could cook that are miles better than either, I'll probably go down that road.
I’ve heard a rumour Scott Sellars has been campaigning for dogshit pie to be added to the half time menu. Pass it on.

I've always expected Neves to go and kinda thought he'd already have left.

I did think we were going to be signing more 'wonderkids' to develop with us.

I.e. Sell Jota and buy 3 new Jotas, hoping at least 1 would be as good.

It just makes the money we spent on Silva & Semedo baffling.

We essentially can't replace Neves, no-one as good as him will join us, regardless of how much we sell him for.

He's better than the current Man Utd though. I mean clearly he'd immediately be their best midfielder by a country mile, but they aren't winning shit any time soon and he deserves to be lifting trophies if he is going to leave.

On the other hand I'd say United are one of only two teams above Wolves in the table where he'd be guaranteed to start most games. Think he'd have to go aboard to go right to the top.

Unless de Jong leaves not sure where he fits tbh. They already have Kessie coming in on a free and both Gabi & Pedri who are 2 of the best young midfielders in Europe.

Yet it will still get repeated and regurgitated ad infinitum.

Tbh I've thought for a while he might go to Real as they're going to need to replace Modric and Kroos soon. Seems like they might want Tchouameni though - between him, Camavinga and Valverde they'd be set for years.

If he went to Barca surely he'd be seen as the Busquets replacement at the base of their midfield, though I don't think he'd give them the same output.

Similarly with Real, I think Casemiro's position would be the best spot for him but again he's not the same style of player. I can't see him doing what Modric and Kroos do.

I might be overthinking it but I can't see Kessie and Neves working together, its one or the other - mostly because I think Xavi is fully intending to utilise the kids and have them play a big role.

I think he'd be capable of filling the Kroos role personally - he's not an out and out destroyer the way Casemiro is and he can certainly keep play moving as we have seen, but he probably has more in his locker that playing for a better/more attacking team would show. Similar to how Jota is suddenly a great header of the ball (!) which I don't think we ever really saw.

6 goals in 133 appearances as an attacking player. He'll fit right in.
Thought he might be an assist machine but no he has 15 assists in 143 apps.

Nearing on 1:10 ratio. That's a whole 4 assists a season.

Whoever is doing our recruitment needs a slap.

I'd read that we wanted him on a free in January after FIFA (or UEFA, icr) had said that anybody playing in Ukraine could move for nothing in that window. Think he played under Lage before. Even if he's completely shit he'll be better than Hwang. I don't care if we've only just bought him, I'd fuck him off the grasshoppers tomorrow

Given that Lage pressed for Hwang to sign permanently (or at least that's the club line) I'm not sure I want to sign any players he rates.

You know he wanted to sign Adam Reach for Benfica? Hmmmm.

Hwang was clearly on the club radar ore Bruno. Might have only signed him as that was all he was getting.

This Pedrinho hasn’t got great stats in a shit league. Fred managed to look a world beater over there convincing United to pay £50m for him.

It's worth mentioning that pedrinho played a lot of games when he was 19/20.

This season he's played just over 7 full games and got 3 goals and 2 assists.

Edit. He also scored against monaco in champions league qualifying

In games where they are smashing the opposition 6-1.

Frankowski was a goal a game in Poland…

Obligatory YouTube compilation, I assume there is dodgy music too

This was my concern right at the start - Lage has practically never signed anyone. He has only been a manager for a couple of seasons and both of those have been with an inherited team.

talk of Ollie McB and Kieffer Moore added to Hwang and Trincao fills me with dread when the Nuno squad falls apart in the summer.

I think the cleverer than you attitude of Shi/Sellars combined with Bruno’s lack of experience and complete absence of checks and balances on any of the doesn’t bode well for this next window.

this, together with our shocking performances and results since the last window ended, our reliance on key individuals and lack of firepower or midfield options makes me genuinely worried that our bubble has burst and we are in for a relegation fight next season.

1) the rumour is probably bollocks
2) most likely won’t sign him even if it isn’t
3) no one has written him off
