Summer 2022 Transfer Window

There aren't really wheels within wheels here.

1) Forest have decided to spend silly money without thinking what they're doing

2) Steve Cooper's number one MO is getting the band back together from the 2018 England U19 team he managed

3) We didn't want or need to sell unless it was a daft bid

No Mendes, no conspiracy.

Does this mean we have to praise Jeff and Scott?

It's a Mendes conspiracy for me Clive

So is it £25m plus add-ons or £35m plus add-ons??
£25m plus £10m in realistic add-ons (that will be appearances, maybe a few goals) plus £9.5m in other add-ons (this is probably Forest winning something, qualifying for Europe etc)

When they said unrealistic, I thought they meant forest staying up. There's unrealistic and there's never going to happen.

I said this, but was told this was not the case.

A likely 35m for an academy player, although a shame he didn’t want to stay here, is a big win for the club in a few ways tbf I think.

Interesting despite the signings we’ve made he still didn’t want to stay

Too much animosity which can probably never be changed, Leeds is evidence of that.

Doesn’t make our best 11 and he wants to be playing every week.

A manager he trusts wants him.

A silly offer has been made and the club could do with recoupoing some money.

Just my opinion, but I get the feeling he’d take the “easier” option at Forest than fight for a place at Wolves.

And he probably gets a decent raise on top of it too

I still maintain that I have probably seen MGW play well for us for around half an hour of all the years he’s been here.

Sounds like he was ok for (a pretty shit) Sheff Utd last year but the Championship and PL have never been further apart.

Granted he looked ok pre-season and was one of the better ones in the first two games but £40+ million is absolutely crazy. Absurd. No PL experience (to speak of), no domestic trophies and miles away from an international cap.

I have been one of the most critical of Shi and Sellars in the last few months but they have gone a long way to redeeming themselves if they’re responsible for this one.

We have swapped MGW for Matheus Nunes.

Get on that.

I know what you mean about swapping him for Nunes, used that comparison myself, but realistically from a positional sense we've swapped him for Guedes, we have no idea if he's going to be successful in the Premier league, he could be another Trincao. Obviously I'm hoping Guedes turns our to be a great player for us.
As you say I just don't think we could turn the offer down, especially if Morgan wants to move anyway. I'd rather it had been Podence though.

Does MGW count as home grown? Just wondering

To be fair [to Guedes] he's another entire ball game to Trincão. The latter distinguished himself in Braga and got nabbed by a very lack luster Barcelona. Guedes has been half way around Europe, from Benfica to PSG, to Valência and now us.

Looking forward to seeing him and Nunes play

If we'd approached Chelsea for Conor Gallagher this summer and they'd said £35m was the price, I'd have been a bit unsure about spending that much. That's someone who's had two good PL seasons on loan and has played for England.

MGW is the same age almost to the day but miles off that in terms of CV.

Spot on. We can’t be upset with the deal. I mean, with his CV to get more than 20/25m is great business imo

What Marianakis gives, Marianakis takes i guess. Podence in 2020 for 20M euros was as much as a suprise.
