Summer 2022 Transfer Window

I just think the whole we will compete was a very glib remark in the excitement of it all, I believe we probably can and will, but we need another 8 - 10 years to get ourselves noted as a premier League top 10 club and can actually compete for Signatures.
We could finish 8th for the next 10 years and we wouldn't be any closer to signing those type of players than we are now

Donations to the Tory party would have been far more effective if that was their goal!
Yeah, I don't believe that in a rules-based society like the UK that corporate positioning like buying a football club would be ethically acceptable. Just sending the Partnership Director over to give the PM a nosh would have been the official route.

Its still a very ropey way of getting business. Much more cost-effective to fund some decorating.

Which they could do without buying a football club.
of course they could but having a well-known brand would help.

I'm not saying it's a good idea or the right thing to do, just why i think they bought wolves.

I also think that's why Southampton is under Chinese ownership, given how much trade from China goes through the port there.

The why being to get known and also for a "hearts & minds" thing too

However, the world's changed, especially around how unacceptable pumping money into football has become in China.

For me, they purchased a football club because the Chinese Government was going all in on making football huge in China. They encouraged people to invest in football around the world.
Then they changed their mind and wound it back in. big time Fosun being smarter than the average Chinese investor changed the plan so that's how we have ended up with them trying to grow our brand around e-sports etc. Essentially keeping the Government onside and not having to explain why their bosses have vanished for days on end...again..

If they could discover the Chinese version of Messi, all would be good again on the football side

I know you're just being silly but in the interests of information Soton are owned by a Serbian media mogul.

Yep, 6th months ago they bought 80%.

Part of the world changing.

I love how someone presenting an opinion is being silly

This video makes far more sense to me than fosun buying wolves, and wolves specifically for eSports / brand development / they liked the badge etc

That's as bonkers as Streetly's ramblings
