Summer 2022 Transfer Window

But if opposition defenders and midfield players can push up knowing that there was no-one capable of getting in behind them it surely creates pressure on the defence? We know that Adama was most likely to spanner any chance into the crowd but maybe that threat forced defenders to play deeper? Having that freedom to get further up the pitch builds pressure for our defenders, does it not?
You absolutely spot on there dw

Newcastle have been linked through the summer.

I'll be surprised if we sign any of the three. Even if we don't what has become clear is we're after technical players. Which is why I find it strange we're selling MGW.
Has this just come from that French Wolves tweet or are there other sources (been out of the loop all day)? To be honest, the link to Paquetà makes me think it's made up anyway, it's quite far fetched.

Only one other Twitter random by the looks of things.

No doubt it's made up. They all are.

We seem to be a little lethargic in the transfer market this summer.

What do we think dear friends?

  1. Fosun are currently in a dire financial position and cannot be funding a property such as Wolves right now?
  2. Fosun have lost interest. It's now got to be self-financing all the way until they decide to cash in?
  3. It's all part of the plan! Be patient, trust the process, quality additions will happen all in good time?
  4. Other :)

There's no need for 1 or 2 considering Wolves make over a hundred million pounds per year. Nobody (sane) is asking for Man City, just that the club can use what the club makes.

Wolves made over a hundred million pounds last year because Fosun decided not to ask for the money it lent Wolves to be returned. That money has already been spent. Wolves made a real profit of around 20 million.

It's impossible to know how much cash Wolves actually have but we're probably owed a lot of money on the players we've sold and paid cash for the players we've bought over the last two or three years.

Even in the current situation 50 million pounds isn't a lot to Fosun, they may well allow Wolves to borrow that type of money if anybody was prepared to lend it.

Well I got a message last night off someone who’s been reliable in the past. May as well pop it on here to be discussed.

- despite reports, we’re only looking to add TWO first team signings. A striker and a defender. Anyone else will be mainly for the under 23’s.

- they’ll only let MGW go if he forces a move but it seems unlikely

- Neves hasn’t signed a new contract yet (which is obviously the opposite to what GFFH hinted at last week), but is happy here and will only go if silly money is offered

There is and never was a project at Wolves. The whole fosun/wolves thing was a one off marketing transaction where fosun got publicity and spotlight to build their esports brands in places that aren’t uk.

That is now done. What remains is to eke out publicity and exposure gained through the premier league without extra investment on top of the one off they already put in.

When we finally fall apart completely they will be nowhere to be seen having sold the remains back to the next Steve Morgan.

Buying a Championship football club to increase an esports brand doesn’t sound like it would win many votes on Dragons Den.

I'm far from a fan of how we are being run, but you are becoming increasingly bonkers

Interesting. If we fail to sign a midfielder again I’ll be baffled!

Miles away from reality.
They bought a privincial championship team that needed investment, to build Esports buy a premier league club in London.

My own view is they have found it difficult to get players to improve the first 11, because we are competing with Spurs, Man Utd etc for these players and we are a relatively new club to the Prem let alone the top 10.
Newcastle may have the money but the will have the same issues we have.

What CM will come to us, that is better tham Neves or Mouts, thats what we need to get to top 5.

Players we are after are being chased by other top 7 clubs, and we are a bottom feeder in that particular group, in the same way if we had gone for the guy that signed for Fulham we would have got him.

I still have Faith in Fosun they have given me the best years since 1981.

I have seen us beat City, Liverpool, Utd (countless times), Spurs, Arsenal.

I just think the whole we will compete was a very glib remark in the excitement of it all, I believe we probably can and will, but we need another 8 - 10 years to get ourselves noted as a premier League top 10 club and can actually compete for Signatures.

This thread has become increasingly weird while also managing to become pretty tedious, thank god we've had Jinkys post this morning of some spurious potential incoming.

My own theory is that fosun wanted to get themselves known in UK & Europe, principally to help them get major infrastructure projects.
