Summer 2022 Transfer Window

I think some people are a lot more sure he will make the step up than I am. His best season was last season and I would say both Costa and Cavaleiro have had better Championship seasons (both have had better seasons statistically) and neither of those 2 made the step up. Different types of players but the step up is massive.

Don't think anyone is sure, it's just some including me think he deserves a chance after the last couple of seasons in the Championship.
Obviously if he doesn't want to stay, then 20-30m is good money for him. Don't see the point in comparing him to other players.

I'm absolutely convinced he's in for a good year. We've seen it in spells, but the gruelling Championship season will have done wonders for his physical and mental development. He's such a talented footballer, and if we use him right I'm convinced he'll be being talked about for England by the end of the season

How would it tempt them if we are keeping him unless he forces a move?
Well the bit about thinking they'd be tempted to sell for £20m is my opinion. The bit about us only selling him unless he forces a move is what I was told last night.

Comparing him to the other players was simply making the point that we have seen players before boss it in the Championship, that having watched and looked at their stats, you'd bet would have stepped up and then failed at the higher level and not made anywhere near the same impact. That adds to the other factors which include him having a turbulent relationship with Wolves fans previously and this Summer being the optimum time to sell IF he wont sign a new deal.

He does deserve a chance and he will be playing Premier League football this season one way or the other. The decision is pretty much down to the player but I think the factors above mean that if he wont sign a new contract during this window they will need to look very seriously at it if anyone comes in at around the £25m mark.

We could finish 8th for the next 10 years and we wouldn't be any closer to signing those type of players than we are now
Possibly.

I was thinking more of most players now had probably never heard of us 10 years ago, when they were 13/14 in 10 years most 22 to 25 year olds would only know us as a top 10 prem team.

You would not believe the amount if Scandis, Spanish none English/Welsh i Speak to that dont know we are in the Prem and I include Scots in that.

The contract side is one element, the other is what does Bruno want to do with him. IF he's to get a proper chance as an advantaged midfielder in a 352 or hopefully 4231 then I'd keep him unless the bid becomes stupid or he acts the arse. If it's to park out on the right I'd auction to the highest bidder in the next week

It's a conundrum at the moment as if the rumors were true RE Ben Yedder, for example, you'd need to use a formation where you can get 2 central attackers into the team. If that is with a 3-5-2 it seems a massive waste of player like Neto, a system with 4 at the back would be far more beneficial but then we'd definitely need quality new addition at center back as a bare minimum to allow us to transition. If we aren't selling Neves and we are keeping MGW, I don't get how we raise funds from sales. What other saleable assets do we have to raise those funds?

If it gets to near 30m he'll be sold, regardless of if he forced a move and I wouldn't blame the club for letting him go at that price.

For all the talent I think he has, he hasn't proven anything at the top level yet and there's so many who have done well in the championship and failed in the PL to take the risk on rejecting that offer.

This is great news. Reckon we will switch to a four with him forming part of it, and if so, who partners him?

Collins/Kilman? Or does Coady keep his place?

Switching to a back 4 allows us to play Moutinho/Neves & MGW at the same time.

I’m guessing if we sign him social media will explode because we’ve signed a player from Burnley, and not PSG/ Bayern/ Barcelona

I would be very happy with that - exactly what we need.
