Summer 2022 Transfer Window

Tony - do you not think that a striker is pretty important , along with a midfielder and centre half ? I nearly go so far as to say that a new striker is more important than a centre half if I had a choice .

Only the bottom 3 scored fewer than us last season - we need freshness up front in my view , we need something different .

Lack of goals really cost us last season when all is said and done .
Si senor, give the ball to Raul he will score. If you don't he won't.

The 3 positions mentioned by Stan were right sided defender, midfielder and striker, so yes I do. Being greedy I'd also like another wide forward as I don't have much faith in any of Hwang, Podence, MGW or Traore in that position for varying reasons.
My dream would be:
--------------Sa---------
Jonny---New--Kilman---RAN
--------Neves----Moutinho
New-----MGW/New----Neto
---------------New---------

Wouldn't argue with Semedo at rb or the old Raul up top if he's still there, but would treat it as a pleasant surprise at this stage rather than a given

Would help if he actually spent some time in the penalty area instead of playing right side of midfield most of the time.
True, but when he's a million miles away from the midfield and isolated from the wide forwards (or Dendoncker) he'd see the ball even less.

We’ve got £70m ish in CF’s, we’ve made our bed their and had a bit of back luck with Raul, but hopefully he will be better this year.

We can’t really afford to make a big signing their. So it’s going to be those two +/- someone cheap or on loan

I have little faith in Podence ( others seem to have him ahead of the other 3 you mentioned ) - I wouldn't . Quite similar to Traore in that he lives off 2/3 decent games a year and nice touches elsewhere . I want a bread and butter man all day thank you .
Midfielder is top for me , striker is second ( poor old Raul looks finished ) and centre half 3rd .

Better service to our strikers and playing higher up will of course help , but we need finishers with that service and they were not there last season .

Sunk cost though isn't is? I know it's not this simplistic, but it'll cost more if we go down. I don't think we can expect too many goals from Raul or Fabio. We should be looking at succession planning for Raul now anyway given he's 32 this season - there was more wrong with him last year than just a lack of service. I know that's supposed to be Fabio but that's a big leap of faith if you think it is.

That sounds fair enough right now (if not incredibly arrogant), on July 4th, but come September if we have signed CMs nowhere near this sort of quality, then we are going to look like right cunts.

Raul isn't finished, he had plenty of good games last season, a load of rubbish too and two red cards (both ridiculous in their own way). We create so, so little it's unreal. That's on the manager who got wedded to a bad version of his predecessor's football for no reason.

I want us to sign a CM who would get in our team if no one leaves. Palhinha for me does not fit that bracket.

As do I, but I have little to no faith that will happen (do you?), which is why I'd have been more than satisfied with us signing Palhinha.

From all the reports, if Neves had gone by now we would have signed him. Not prepared to have 4 midfielders of a similar type to choose from.

If Neves does go just have to hope our list of targets is more than Palhinha. Honestly not 100% confident on that

It was his attitude that bothered me . Didn't seem interested on a fair few occasions .

Gunna be controversial now, but from what I've seem of Palinha, I dont think he's much of an upgrade on Donk, providing you play Donk as a bog standard, defensive centre midfielder.

I don’t think Raul is finished and should be fine for a team who’s sole aim is survival. Fabio Silva, we will soon find out. Big season for him. If it’s not him who is the successor then we’re going to need to spend another massive wedge in transfer fee and wages, which we currently do not have. Would probably need Raul off the books first. Sunk cost(s) they may be, but we don’t have any money to do anything about it.

Dendoncker is shit even as a bog standard DM. He's not a very good footballer really. I only want to see him as 4th choice this season as a body in the squad.

Not something we can really start to judge until Sept 1st. £20m for a rotational holding midfielder wouldn't be a great use of resources if Neves stays

I disagree, if you play him in a similar style as Belgium he's OK, not fantastic but fine. If you play him as an AM or wide forward, you get what you deserve.
