Summer 2022 Transfer Window

Stupid we let it drag on so long, replacing him would cost stupid money, he's still playing at the same level and he wants to stay. Should have been done months ago.

Pleased it's finally over the line.

Picture in the new shirt....and looks like he is trying to "Jack Price" his beard

Considering he wanted 2 years and we wanted 1 it's not that surprising. No doubt he talked to other clubs but no one offered as much as we did.

Fast forward to 12 months time when we have to give him the extra year anyway as he's still one of our best players.

It's done, I'm pleased, we should have managed it better.

Percy suggesting that we are targeting a "right sided defender, another midfielder and striker" and "although the market is proving slow, there is no panic over the lack of additions."

I wish I shared their confidence.

Japan staying is the most important signing of the summer though IMO.

174 appearances, 5 goals, 23 assists, countless MOTM performances and still going as strong as the day he walked into the place.

For five million pounds.

I wasn't ready to say goodbye and I'm delighted he's extended but this ought to have been sorted months ago - haggling with your best players when they want to stay and you already run on a skeleton playing staff is stupid.

Assuming the first means a centre half then that's what we'd all like I think. The right signings are more important than quick ones, but other teams don't seem to be finding the market slow, given there's only Chelsea and Leicester who have also not brought anyone in.

Its tough to know.
We have seen a couple of real top End movements.
City have got a couple over the line in Haaland and Phillips, we probably are not shopping in Harrods.

We are possibly shopping in M&S. I dont see many moving that I thought would have had him, that we could have realistically gone and got.

Paulinha I fancied, but its telling he has gone To Fulham, when possibly us, West Ham, Brighton and Leicester are shopping, maybe he is not the level we are all looking at.

Paulinha I fancied

Just clicking through NewsNow (yes I know, I know) and Sports Witness have us linked with Wissam Ben Yedder. Why do they waste their fucking time?

Tony - do you not think that a striker is pretty important , along with a midfielder and centre half ? I nearly go so far as to say that a new striker is more important than a centre half if I had a choice .

Only the bottom 3 scored fewer than us last season - we need freshness up front in my view , we need something different .

Lack of goals really cost us last season when all is said and done .

You could put countless strikers in our current system and they/we would still never score.

If you have new defenders allowing the defence to play further forward the benefit is the midfield and forwards are pushed further forward too.

if we were to go completely mental and lose a centre half it means you could have an extra body in an attacking position too.
