Summer 2022 Transfer Window

I personally don't think 4 signings which was mentioned earlier is enough anyway. Before you consider us being terrible at the end of last season anyway plus the fact that we have lost 5 players that used to make every match day squad when fit. You have to take into account that teams can make 5 subs this season, so you do actually need a good squad and options. I doubt you'll get away with naming 3 or 4 viable subs and the rest fodder that are never going to get on the pitch. You could try and do that but you're putting yourself at quite a big disadvantage.
I think it depends on who stays. We haven't lost anyone who was in our starting 11 at the end of last season, so assume we can play 4231 and the players coming in were a centre half, attacking midfielder, wide forward and centre forward. Then we could have a bench if everyone was fit even if we sold MGW and Traore of:
Sarkic
Boly
Toti
Coady
Dendoncker
Semedo/RAN/Jonny
Podence
Fabio
Raul

I don't believe it will happen as it'll cost more than we bring in and we are run by imbeciles but the correct 4 would be plenty.

Someone on Twitter was saying he wouldn't get a work permit so with that and him only being 18 - if he signs I guess he goes somewhere on loan at least and is one for the future rather than a first team signing.

Update from from E&S Liam

- No bid for MGW and expected to stay. No based on if he signs a new deal or not.
- Mout still expected to re-sign
- and here is the biggy....Adama not going back to Barca (someone check on Scott Sellars at this point please)
- Not signing Trincao

I guess the last bit is good - if Adama went there we’d just get Trincao as a swap. At least now Leeds or someone can pay some cash for him

I'm less confident than most this Moutinho deal gets done tbh, I don't buy that there wouldn't be a market for him - he's still a very good player. Even if he had to take a bit less money and sign a 2 year deal somewhere else, I think he'd get a club no bother.

We are offering £100k a week though. Outside of the PL I'd have thought he'll struggle to get a 2 year deal on £50k per week at his age, so he'd be working the second for free. Better to take our 1 year and do it all again next Summer.

The latest on the transfer situation as I understand it

- Neves now expected back for pre-season. #wwfc looking at midfielders
- Lage has been in touch with MGW over next season
- Goalkeeping situation worth watching
- Lots of variables

I don't know if we are offering 100k or not but I'd be absolutely shocked if nobody was willing to offer 50k a week for 2 years. The way wages have been inflated now, that's really not a lot for the quality of player you're getting.

It's unusual for Spiers to be so bold without it being the truth, so can only assume it is true. I'm a little surprised though.
Couple of weeks old, but it's here

Clubs rarely offer players a big reduction in terms. It'll either be the same/an improvement, or they just let them go as the player will leave anyway.

There's no reason why we should be offering Moutinho less money. He's the same player as he was in 2018.

Liverpool offered Milner less money and he took it but I guess on that front its based on he will be used less next season and his other options are a) huge reduction to get a move or b) retire.

Mout is still going to get 30+ games for us because we are allergic to signing actual midfielders and creating competition for places
