absolutely no way this is true. we have looked at other right wing backs over the past 2 years and have wanted to upgrade on doherty, which might be part of why he wanted to move to spurs in the first place.

Doc was suited to one position with one specific role. Semedo has his faults but he's without a doubt better than Doc. The issues are more tactical on the whole, Nuno sorts it and we'll see the benefits.

I certainly hope this is the case because he has always looked to me as if his confidence still suffers an Alphonso Davies complex!

Doc was useful in 1 position, within a specific format & the players he had around him at that time. We know that he isn't in any other way so if we want to evolve then we won't use him.

Given what we paid for him then made a massive profit on the sale - just bank the money & re-use. He will have a career of sorts somewhere, but just not back here.

Semedo is better though not enough yet to justify the price, but is improving to some degree.

Semedo’s alright, but a club like us doesn't pay £27m for a 27 year old to be 'alright'.

You'd want him to hit the ground running but it hasn't happened, and I think the good will towards him and over-estimation of what he's actually done for us on here is partly because people have over-invested in Doc being shit, and partly because we really need Nelson to work.

He's athletic all right, but I've seen precious little end product going forward and he looks suspect defensively against anyone half-decent, but I hope like everyone else the magical pre-season we desperately need will work wonders on him too.

I love stats me, Semedo gets dribbled past less than Jonny, Jonny does a bit more pressing higher up the pitch. By these numbers, Semedo looks as good as Jonny.

My perception is that Semedo gets forward more than Jonny does
