Summer 2021 transfer window

Have they? Cheers

I'm just making the point that we cannot compete with that, regardless of how involved or uninvolved Jota is in the starting eleven. If they came calling for Ruben Neves, I'm sure he would give it a serious think...

That assumes the club don't have a say in the matter. Wolves accepted a bid for Jota so of course he wanted to go, if we'd knocked it back, he'd have found out about it and potentially caused a fuss or alternatively thought fair enough, I like it here, I'm under contract and moved on.

Zaha wants out every Summer, but Palace don't sell him, it's not a one way street and he comes across as a much bigger prick than Jota.

There seems to be a collective 180 degree turn on here over the last year. When Raul, Neves, Traore etc were being linked to wherever this time in 2020 it was 'they can get stuffed, they couldn't afford him' 'he won't want to leave he loves it here/Nuno' Jota leaves and its 'well you can't expect him to turn down Liverpool', which in the manner it came around he wasn't ever going to, but a different set of circumstances may have altered that.

I think anyone who expected not one of our "stars" to leave was being naive

I suppose in the case of Zaha, they literally can't afford to sell him for less than the crazy amount they want for him. They'd be screwed without him in all likelihood.

I'm worried about keeping Ruben this summer but it is different with him as he's so key for us, starts pretty much every game and we will want to base the team around him. I am wary that we have got about 3 more years out of him than I expected when he joined though!

I think Neves is the most likely player for the big teams to come looking at

Maybe abroad, but then most the clubs who might target him are stacked with centre midfielders. I wondered if he might come into the Real Madrid midfield what with the age of Modric and Kroos, but I haven't watched them enough this season to know their issues.

It’s a problem if he does look to get away. I get that we recruited excellent talent when we went up but how much of that was selling the project? Now that it has stalled it may be more difficult to get the next crop of talent in.

I was just thinking the same thing. While we were in the ascendant, we were an attractive proposition and I couldn't see anyone wanting to leave. At the moment, I'm not sure why they'd want to either come stay.

They haven't got the money as it stands.

Ah okay. I would have said he'd suit Conte too but they definitely don't have the money! Was reading about their situation today, looks bleak.

Not a chance Fabio is going on loan, not while Raul's future is up in the air even if he gets back for a couple of games this season. Especially if we send Jose back.

I wouldn't be against the idea if we had adequate cover, which we don't. It'd have to be to a top 6 Champ team who could create plenty of chances for him to build his confidence up as well as his physicality.

I don't think he'll go on loan but if he did Sheffield United meet your criteria - every time I watch them it seems they miss lots of chances.

I'm curious where this idea is coming from that Fabio is not the quickest at the moment, ergo he will never be fast enough? He's never going to be Adama, sure, but it's perfectly possible he'll improve. Usain Bolt wasn't born a world record holder.

It's been noted more than once Foden has been working with a sprinting coach, for example. There's plenty of things they can work on mechanically like his gait, and as he matures his leg strength should improve.

Fabio will get nowhere near Raul's speed.

Bolt was a world champion at every level he competed at.

Fabio was outpaced by Mark Noble. That's slow no matter how you much training you're thinking of doing.

Bolt got faster over his career, is the point - which I'm sure you gathered.

He doesn't need to be as fast as Raul, he just needs to be fast enough.

He doesn't need to be fast, we've listed loads of forwards who aren't. What you can't be is slow and weak and he's both. There's a lot more chance of him fixing the latter than the former.

The assertion was that he’d replace Raul and that clearly can’t be the case as a like for like player so we have to change our style of play to get the best out of Fabio.

I think he’ll end up similar in style to Kane personally.

To be honest that was the reason for posing the question of 'slowest elite striker' in the first place to prove he doesn't need to be Mbappe levels of speed

Pinch of salt because it’s the express but they’ve linked us with Tapsoba again. Personally i think we missed the boat on that one and he’ll go to one of the “bigger” clubs.
