Summer 2021 transfer window

It's all just the Mendes merry-go-round. Where you sit on that is personal preference

My view on that is, after being a cocky fucker as he gave us Neves, Jota, Mout, Rui etc I would be a raging hypocrite to call it shit if players arrive that, on paper, look lesser quality. Until we purchase our soul back from him have to kind of accept it but reserve the right to shout bollocks at Jeff (the seller of said soul) if it goes tits up. I can't do that until a) things happen on the pitch and b) Our Dear Leaders lets us back in.

Neves came to make his name in England. We could have easily lost him from the moment we got to the Prem. Him leaving is just the nature of how these signings will work. Jota came to make his name and joined the Champions of England. Neves is the next off the rank to go, no one should be surprised he is leaving. The only thing will be getting a decent fee for him
Rui going is simple economics - 1 year left, so if someone offers what we think is good value we will take that rather than £0 next summer.

No one has a clue who we are signing and what they will do. Guessing they are shit or downgrades is pointless. Who on here when Nuno took over thought Coady would be a key player and go on to play for England (and even wear the captans armband for them)....anyone??? no. Who on here thought we would sell Doc for £9m+£6m to Jorge after impressing the Prem...again, anyone?. Just let it play out, if Jeff has got it wrong then so be it and the reaction he gets will be valid but I can't buy this "we have royally fucked up" before anything has even happened, outside of Nuno leaving and not 1 single ball kicked in anger.
You don't have to buy anything. It's all IN MY OPINION, and i stated it as such.
Nothing i've seen the club do, apart from get a "manager" in early is filling me with any confidence for next season, or any confidence of anyone in charge knowing what the fuck they are doing towards their stated aim, which is an upwards trajectory from what we had before.

But you haven't seen anything at all yet ?? How can you say that before anything has happened player wise ?

and i'm not fully on board with Ward. Not keen on his footwork and postioning at times when he has played for Wales recently and not played a league game in 3 or 4 seasons?
The Fiorentina keeper looks good but I don't think we're actually in for him.

They got a kid in, so i should be happy then.. Selling a keeper that the new manager doesn't want to go, selling Neves, a player we should be building the team around, Possibly selling Traore. Like i said, nothing i have seen fills me with confidence in any way, even though nothing has happened yet.

I've seen less of him than Ward and Sa. People seem to think he is decent, but as you say I doubt it. If we are signing a keeper it's Jose Sa.

I do miss the days of getting an update at 3pm when the E&S came out or reading the headlines on the clubcall ad on Teletext. I mean this forum would be quiet but 99% of the noise would be gone and between seasons a lot easier to cope with,

The last 6 words makes sense - the rest is mere speculation and fluff.

Please don't see this as me saying your opinion is worthless or whatever but your points, here are my views on them.

1) We have no clue if Lage wants to keep him. A couple of comments from people on Twitter are not fact. The closest is from his mate and his view is Rui isn't forcing a move
2) Neves - In an ideal world, yes building a team around Ruben would be great but as we are not a Top 4 team its not possible is it. The player himself will want to move on to progress to the next stage of his career.
3) Traore - If someone offers silly money, then hell yeah you sell and you also have to take into account the player. A few rumblings from his comments he may want to move on.

Its an odd summer as from the moment Nuno arrived its been upwards (even if his first signing made us go WTF we signing Ryan Bennett for) so the first bump in the road and for me Jeff/Fosun deserve the next couple of months to show they know what they are doing.

1/ I've seen it from more than a couple, but point taken.
2/ We are not a top 4 team i agree. I thought that was where the club were aiming for. And as they are Neves is one of those players you would keep if you have asperations.
3/ He might want to, see answer 2.
It has been upwards, until we got rid of Nuno, and everything that goes along with getting rid of the project manager. It's not a bump, it's a ski slope. I think Jeff/ Fosun will get maybe 5 games to see what happens. If it goes south it will be murder out there for him.
Again this is what i think.

If we waited till something really happened you'd get one post a month. This whole forum is full of speculation! So is the whole of social media! And news sites.
I should stop it because no one, and i mean no one (but me) is speculating...

The thing is you have this raft of negative potential outcomes with no balance, and then use that as the foundation for some doomsday hypothesis.

Not going to get wound up by what might happen, I'll wait for it to do so first.

I have faith that Fosun, Jeff etc are going to do what they believe is the right thing and I'm not against the principle of a squad regeneration,I think we could all agree it had gone stale.

Neves has given us 4 years, he's earnt the right to move on, although I'd be disappointed if that's to a team not in Europe for a fee less than £40m.

Traore frustrates more than he excites me so again if the deal is right no issue there.

Rui has had 1 good season, 1 reasonable and 1 poor, he's not irreplaceable, but again the money would need to be right.

If Moutinho wants to play his last years at home then we shouldn't stand in his way.

So in summary if the conditions work I wouldn't have an issue with all 4 leaving. With Mir, Vinagre etc that'll give over £100m to spend on a keeper, left back, a centre half, a DM, a AM and a forward - averages about £15-£20m per position. Where I do have concerns is who is signing them. Let's face it as with the manager Sa wouldn't be first choice in an open field, I hope we aren't limiting ourselves solely to that pool because it also limits the chances of success. We aren't going to get the cream of that crop.

It's a risky strategy, there is a bigger gap between the ceiling and floor than in the previous 3 seasons. It'll probably prove to be really smart or naive bordering on incompetence, time will tell.
