That's great news. I'm slightly mystified as to why he would leave Bayern. Any thoughts? More chance of first team football?

When I predicted top 6 I was sure we'd make at least one more top-drawer signing, so I'm certainly not turning cartwheels at the moment. That said, I wasn't exactly over the moon at the end of last summer's window either, and that turned out pretty well. Fingers crossed at the moment that some of the youngsters we've got turn out to be wunderkinder. I'm still optimistic, but I was really hoping to be confident.

My biggest worry is we don’t have a repeat of the success of last season. If we don’t qualify for Europe again next season, why would Neves, Moutinho, Jota, even Nuno stay? Then not strengthening further in this window will be seen as a huge mistake.

That’s a debate for another day, though - and hopefully the boys can have another successful season.

Lets be honest we could finish 6th and get in Europe again but we could see the likes of Neves & Jota move on. When the really big boys come knocking we will won't have much power in stopping them and we wouldn't be able to stand in their way.

We beat both Europa League finalists (and were unbeaten against them, in fact) and one of the Champions League finalists in the league last year. No reason to suggest Europe will be too much for us from a talent POV.

Which is probably the same deal as any player we put in the U23. He will no doubt be told about them but the scouting and decision to sign will be down to the head of football at that level

Not sure what else the club could have done, we have bought in some decent young talent, it would have been nice to get one more top class player but there's no doubt in my mind we have been working hard to get one in but if a player doesn't want to come there's not much you can do about it....not sure just chucking money about is the answer, even if we were able
