Summer 2016 Window Thread

I wouldn't be bothered about any of the back five being sold other than Iorfa. They're all replaceable. Maybe, maybe, Hause has some potential, but assuming we're going to play Batth/Williamson as our starting two then he's not going to develop here anyway.

For midfield only Price, Graham, Zyro and Wallace I'm bothered about keeping. KMac too assuming we actually decide to play in a way that suits him for a change.

I doubt we'd sell Mason so soon, so it'll be him and Dicko as our main two. Hopefully Bright will develop behind them, but most likely Ken will send him out on loan.

Saw Southampton fans on Instagram giving Iorfa "welcome" messages. Not sure if there's anything in it.

I was under the impression that Mason looked half decent? Also Saville I think has earned a little more time.

Saville is the new Dave Edwards IMO.

As depressing as the list of players from DW's opening post is, what's more depressing is that Ikeme, Edwards, Doherty, Coady, Henry & Ebanks-Landell will all still be here come September.

And worse they will all be starting if Jackett is in charge.

May as well get the ball rolling as our miserable season ends in under a fortnight.

If we had any level of even modest ambition there are four players in L1/L2 I'd be looking at:

Dan Bentley (out of contract)
Rico Henry
Bradley Dack
Kemar Roofe

Keeper has to be number one priority for me in the summer.

All of the following can go for all I care - I think Van La Parra's deal is already done so he won't be back.

Ikeme
Doherty (if someone's daft enough to pay money for him off the back of two months of average form then take it)
Edwards
Henry
McDonald
McCarey
Rowe
Coady
Sigurdarson
Ebanks-Landell
Ismail
Le Fondre

I'd have liked us to sign Martinez but that ship evidently sailed months ago as he hasn't been considered for a recall. If someone were willing to give us a decent chunk of our money back for Mason or Byrne they can go as well.

I expect Iorfa will go, the club don't have the appetite to resist bids.

We can't half-arse this window as there are no emergency loans next season, the squad we have when September starts is the squad for four months.

This is the most important transfer window for Wolves since the Bosman ruling. With no loans there is only one chance to get it right. I fear they wont. The recruitment has been appalling for a while and when they get gems they are sold within a year ( Afobe)

Sell Iorfa, Hause, Graham and Dicko and bring in a few more kids. Summer done.

Worst case scenario:

Goalkeepers - We don't sign anyone and go into the season with Ikeme & one of the kids.

Defenders - We sell Iorfa & Hause to the first bidder, sign Dorian Dervite & Jeremy Helan as replacements. Give EEL another chance after Williamson is put out to pasture, develop Deslandes for half a season and then sell him in Jan.

Midfielders - Someone throws a cheeky 500k at Jack Price and KJ lets him walk out the door so he can develop Coady into his future captain. We sell McDonald to Rangers for half of what we could've got for him last season before he signed his new contract. Bradford go up through the play-offs, Evans kicks up a fuss about not wanting to return to KJ and we sell him for peanuts. Replace these 3 with some clogger like Liam Trotter or Darren Pratley. Pratley - Coady - Edwards - Saville. #rhombus #dynamic #power

Wingers - We spend most of our budget on giving James Henry a nice new contract, making him the highest paid player at the club. Talk up JG's return to fitness all year, get him back about mid Nov, wins us enough points to save KJ's job until the end of the season and then sell him in Jan. Proceed to tout up Nathan Byrne as the answer to all our problems now that he's hit the gym and built up enough neck muscle to support his massive head.

Forwards - After he proves his fitness with a good start to the season we sell Nouha to Villa just before the window slams shut, fail to replace him with several derisory bids for Chris Wood or Sebastian Polter and eventually offer Sigurdarson a 3 year contract in a fit of blind panic. We take up the permanent option on Alfie's loan and KJ continues to mismanage him.

Manager - Keep KJ.

Best case scenario:

Goalkeepers - We actually have some sort of budget, sign Martinez or someone of a similar quality and then actually fucking PLAY him.

Defenders - We manage to keep hold of Iorfa & Hause and develop them into our new CB partnership. Pick up a few gems on the cheap like Cunningham or Rico Henry to slot into the full back positions. Keep Doc as back up for both sides. Sell EEL to newly promoted Walsall and he gives away a penalty against us with his massive clown feet.

Midfielders - Give Jack Price the captains armband. Saville & Evans come back after good seasons out on loan looking like the real deal and really start to kick on at crucial stages in their careers. Keep the poor mans Scott Brown as back up, throw him on in the last 10-15 mins to protect a lead. Or sell him. Not bothered really. Whip up some sort of bidding war between Fulham & Rangers for McDonald and reinvest the fee in Bradley Dack.

Wingers - Sell Byrne. Give the likes of Hunte, Wallace & Enobakhare a chance to impress and keep Henry as back up until Graham returns.

Forwards - Don't. Sell. Nouha. Sign a young striker on loan from a top Prem academy, keep Average Joe as 3rd striker and use Bright/Wilson/Collins/Ennis as back up.

Manager - Fook off KJ. Get someone like Paul Cook in who will get the fans back onside and play some entertaining football.

So following our genius swoop to beat Wednesday to the super-fit Williamson, but we could swoop again and nick the League 1 standard JH from them? I can hardly wait.

KMac too assuming we actually decide to play in a way that suits him for a change.

I agree with the majority of your post but I think this is being kind to McDonald. His attitude is abysmal and I really think he's escaped with less criticism than he's deserved this season. I'd fuck him off at the earliest opportunity along with half the squad who are clearly nowhere near the required standard.

I like all of your best case scenario and look on in horror at the worst case. But you did miss off - Get new CEO and DoF to back new manager's vision.

He also missed off the introduction of reasonably priced real ales in the concourses.

Eurgh. You can keep your concourse ale Langers, if it didn't sell out they'd probably leave it sitting there until the next home game.

Maybe he's just pissed off that he's expected to pull all the strings for the team with two men on him all the time and no help from those around him.

My heart bleeds for the poor lamb - he needs to start earning his keep and actually make some sort of effort. There have been plenty of games this season when he hasn't been marked out of a game and still been totally anonymous.

Yeah, it's not tactics that have stymied Kevin McDonald this season. It's his attitude.
