Stoke 0 - Wolves 2 FA Cup surprise result verdict thread

At the time of the draw we were very very very shit though

Its ok though Wycombe will knock us out in round 4

They've got form (x2)...

I was at both games where we got beaten by them, first time ripped apart by Jermaine McSporran (!) a couple of days after we sold Keano, the latter away which was Micky Stowell's final ever start for us.

We were not very good at all at that time, but the cup can throw up strange results. Though I do not think today was such a massive shock.

Terrific win.

Pre-match conversation with my Stoke supporting mate.

Me: The Wolves are coming, mate
Him: 5500 in the South Stand. This will be like the Cup final for you Dingles, lol

Post match

Me: Have we won the Cup?
Him: ...............
Me: I wonder who we'll get in the next round?
Him: .....................

I'd like to hear a few comments on Evans performance from those that were there, I have been his biggest critic over the last couple of seasons and playing him next to Saville made me cringe but obviously it worked great, has the season out on loan, playing regularly sharpened him up? I'll be absolutely delighted to admit I was wrong if he can put in some consistant performances........and what about Saville, is he not as bad as we all thought?

Cracking result - sounds like Williamson made a huge difference.

How did Saville play?

You were wrong Frank. It was pretty much Stoke's first string that we beat. Who knows what their second string would have done!

Its a terrific strike from Doherty......but that wall, what a shambles

No issue with the wasll. Wtf was the keeper doing there? And he took a step further tyo the left. Kidology from wolves with the kick. They were not expecting Doherty

“And then we had a 16-year-old coming off the bench who is a big talent and certainly wasn’t here just to make up the numbers.

“He is only a baby starting out, but he can play, and then there is

Bright Enobakhare, who is only 18, but almost gets overlooked because he is playing every week.

“I have played a few others as well in Connor Ronan and Harry Burgoyne and I think there are one or two more from that group who could step up as well.

“Football these days is about a squad, its not just about 13 or 14 players.

“If we can keep that togetherness and competitive edge then we are a really good side.”
:)

Been chatting to a couple of Stoke mates who were there - both were very impressed with Iorfa.

Talking of Stoke fans, this is rather entertaining.

Have a feeling we'll have very brief highlights tonight.

Anyone wanting a laugh should head over to Oatcake. They're not happy at all. :icon_lol:
