Sounds like Hackney is London’s equivalent of South Staffs District Council. In my work with the Environment Agency I often dealt with local planners. I can can only remember the name of one, Sarah Poxon from SSDC, or Sarah Fucking Poxon as she was often referred to by developers as she seemed to always want more from them and insist on things no other local authority did.

We are of a similar age TP. I was in the first years of student loans and that was before tuition fees, more when they replaced grants. I think mine was paid off in my late twenties or maybe very early thirties at the absolute latest. And i didn't start paying it back until i hit the labour market properly at 25.

Totally different scale today.
