Should be the last increase though, can't be long before all that eSports and record company money comes through, we'll be minted

Not sure if we have a redevelopment thread, but like you say although there are plenty of pieces of land within Wolverhampton you could build a stadium, 99% of them aren’t practical. I’d personally love to see the locals of Tettenhall Upper Green loose their shit at a planning application for a 45,000 seater stadium.
Fun for those used to paying Spoons prices on a matchday to wander into Mo Camara's bar...

If there were money to be made from selling the ground to part finance a new one then I think that would be on the table. As Paddy points out there isn't so I don't think it is, irrespective of whether there's a suitable site or not

They realistically need to rebuild one stand. There’s space to do it. That is going to be far cheaper than unnecessarily building a new one, plus all the other non financial points mentioned.

As for the season ticket increase i personally don't think it's bad considering that everything to do with running a business has gone up 20%. Electric, gas, wages, materials, transport have risen significantly, all of which will be used at the club. But i get the "it's gone up 6 times in 6 years" deal, but a 6% increase in todays market isn't over the top.
Nonsense argument which keeps getting trotted out.

Normal business has almost 100% revenue from the customer, football is the complete opposite and it’s less than 10%. Also the cost of housing me at Molineux hasn’t gone up 20%. There is no heating, lighting costs fuck all, there is no transport, there are no materials, and they’ll pay each steward £3-4 extra a game with the minimum wage increase.

None of that “justifies” an increase. Football isn’t the same as other industries

I think the club have realised they can just keep raising prices, rather than increasing capacity and having to operate at a loss for several years before it starts paying back.

At some point there'll be a tipping point where they might lose a few STHs, but they will have calculated that I'm sure based on year by year renewals.

I'm not sure a wine and cocktail bar is a venue 95% of wolves supporters would choose to frequent. Though I can confirm that Mo can knock up a reasonable enough porn star martini.

And don't forget, if they do lose a few STHs, they've got a 10,000 strong waiting list ready to snap those spaces up...

i'd be really interested to know the average salary of wolverhampton folk vs the average salary of the clubs wolves are using as a benchmark for pricing

They *could* do a lot of things.

It's just a shit way to treat a very finite customer base.

I was under the impression the club don't own the ground, the council do, and the club have the 999 year lease on it. So the club can't sell the land, only the remainder of the lease?

As numerous peers have said though, there is nowhere locally to relocate to, especially given the lack of infrastructure.

The club said a while back the stadium redevelopment is now on the back burner. Investment is taking place into other infrastructure instead.

I do agree with pretty much everyone that the SB is almost unfit for purpose. I'm a short arse, and even I struggle to fit in the seats in that stand. That doesn't even account for the entering and exiting the stand.

Ideally we wanted the Asda/Sainsbury's merger to go through. They wouldn't want two big stores in Wolverhampton, no need at all, so they'd dispose of the older one in the inferior location. It's not land that's particularly useful for anything in the current climate (no one else would be itching to put another supermarket there, we already have one dead retail park and an empty court elsewhere in the city, you can't give away office space) so we could have had all that back and done a Spurs, built whatever we wanted adjacent to the existing ground and all on a huge footprint. But it didn't go through.

The caveat to all this is we were potentially a Michael Beale away from average gates of at best 25k next season and fixtures against Plymouth and Rotherham. In which case we don't need more capacity.

It's not an easy one to balance with where we are as a club.

Just checked and as Cass has moved from U17 to U21 I've now broken the £1k mark. For 19 games of football. £1,007 to be precise. She can pay for her own so I'll renew, it's still fucking ridiculous though.

I am genuinely surprised how many people on Twitter are justifying the price rise.

Actually, I'm amazed.

And it's because of this sort of reaction that it'll go up again next year. And again the year after that.

Happens every year. Bunch of club simps who think that smiling while they're being spat at gets some extra superfan points, as well as making them look mature and reasoned
Yep, along with the time honoured "you don't have to go you know!"

Great argument, Peter Ustinov.

Are we a better team by a factor of 40% than we were in 2018? I don't think we are, you know.

How can you be angry, it’s only £2 per game!!!1

(And £2 next year, and £3 the year after that…)

It's worth about 800k which is a third of a table position for context
