Wakefield replace London in Super League for 2025 - https://www.bbc.com/sport/rugby-league/articles/c80levyy2rpo
Illawara's original team was the Steelers who competed in the ARL from 1982 to 1998. The Dragons are based in Carlton in Sydney's southern suburbs. My wife’s Sister lived in Oak Flats Illawarra, and the Dragons were the local team, I visited the stadium before they changed their name to St George Illawarra.
Yes they did (known also as the Steelers Stadium). Illawara and Canberra were the first 2 teams from outside of Sydney to join the ARL comp in 1982.Didn’t they play at the Win stadium for a while?
The NRL seemed keen on a Perth based team (the Reds were a casualty of the Super League wars) with the North Sydney Bears consortium bid coming up short and rejected by ARLC.No reason why not - the NZ Warriors have been a very good expansion to the NRL.
I am not sure how many spots are available, and I am pretty certain the Australian government is very keen on one expansion spot going to a PNG side, but after that, I think the Orcas would be very welcome.
