Rob Edwards - the prodigal son returns

Nuno coming back would be shades of McGarry coming back in 1985, such is our current shitfest...

They’d look better under him but not sufficiently to get close to staying up.
At this stage I dont even care about staying up, I just want a manager, some players that are competent and spending that can make us competitive (ie mid table) in the Championship next season.

Agreed and I am sure you will agree with me when I say that we also need to take academy coaching and care more seriously and professionally. When I see what goes on with our incoming youth I find the exclusion and lack of care excruciating. So often, we have seen very little evidence of progression.
On that last point, I have lived with my family in several countries and have experienced the same brainless, narrow-minded, provincial and unaware behaviours, especially in human resources departments.

Rob Edwards on Harry Watling: 'He’s very clear in how he sees the game, how he sees situations and reads them.'
Yeah Rob, but our squad is playing in the Premier League and we should have a coach who will be respected and admired by international players several of whom will be going to the World Cup!
Where is Harry's understanding, formative and demonstrated experience at that level? One season of relegation at Luton! Yet another position at Wolves based on being provincial, mid-level and mates. No wonder we can't operate at PL level in so many ways.

Luke Matheson said similar in an interview about 12 months ago, we signed him, didn’t know what to do with him, messed him about by playing him in any academy side of ours, loaned him out, said he was happy when he left

Like how they've incorporated the Kocowa logo

Rob Edwards 🗣️

"It's frustrating. Liverpool can force you back and we weren't able to keep it on the transition. You can concede a goal and then to concede again after a minute is criminal. We adjusted Mane's position, who I thought was brilliant. We didn't win the game but we won the second half.

"[Jeremie] Frimpong has amazing speed on the outside and we had numbers back. The second goal was frustrating. We didn't win enough duels and we didn't compete well enough. We got caught for the second goal. The reaction from them was excellent. We got stronger as the half went on.

On Mateus Mane: "I thought he was excellent. A big plus for us. It's about getting the timing right for when he starts and he's earned it.

"We're trying. The staff are working really hard and the players are giving everything. They're not caving in and going under. They're trying and there are signs of improvement there. This game is about points and we've not been able to get them."

I don't know if anyone else thinks this but I dont actually lay too much blame with Edwards - I don't think many - if any - coaches could get anything from this rabble.

I'm not sure what else there is to say after matches, and whilst I don't like the back 5 he's wedded to (especially at home) and picking Hwang instantly means we're a man down before a ball is kicked but he really has a terrible squad to work with. His soundbites could be far worse than they are and there are a lot more important things to fume about at the moment.

Sacking him would be utterly pointless as the next mug to take this shit squad on wouldn't see much improvement.

I wouldn't go as far as to say I feel sorry for him though as it was his choice to jump ship.

No manager/coach can expect to keep their job if you continue to lose football games, regardless of the hand that you're dealt. We could easily go down without winning a league game... the UNWINNABLES!

Nor can you come off the back of an awful run of games and then miraculously turn it around at the start of a new season, Edwards will have PTSD after this season.

I still think he'll be gone before winter is out, possibly even after the Shrewsbury game if he loses it and loses it badly.
