Relegation Thread 2023/24

I'd definitely be keeping Fulham and Brentford in this conversation.

Fulham still have terrible metrics on xG and the like and it just can't continue. Was something like 0.3 xG yesterday against Palace. Luton should have beaten them at Craven Cottage. They don't have any forwards I would back at all (sorry Raul).

Brentford have only won one so far, no Toney for months yet, Henry out for the season, Collins and the new keeper are awful signings.

Toney has just changed agent too which is being linked to him being considered by Arsenal and Chelsea.

I mean if you go off 2023 form and Villa hold on today, you probably should consider Chelsea too :D

They've beaten Palace, Leeds (relegated), Leicester (relegated), Bournemouth and Luton all year. 5 wins in 29.

To develop it further, since 17 October 2022 they are:

Came to post this, think they’re in the bottom 3 over the calendar year. Won the same amount of PL games 2023 as Leeds and Leicester

Brentford were awful yesterday and very good value for a 1-3 defeat, Henry out for the season is a huge loss to them too.
Still think they’ll have enough but it won’t be comfortable for them.

I mean they actually *have* to be in the conversation, don't they. It's an entire season of relegation form and they aren't improving.

Bizarre stuff but you can't just say "it's Chelsea, they'll be fine", they keep losing and they can't score.

Hopefully this is the hammering that takes away their spirit. Wilder appointed tomorrow

This is just awful have an ounce of professional respect

Seems a bit early to say. But with the top and the league being better than usual, and the bottom being worse, something stupid like 25 points might keep you up.

If we got 33 as we did in 2003/04 when we won 0 away games then we might be ok. Might.

Luton, Sheff Utd, Burnley, ourselves, Everton and Bournemouth are terrible sides and would be worthy of relegation in most seasons.

Another very winnable fixture burnt by Everton yesterday. 4 points from games v Fulham, Villa, Wolves, Sheff Utd, Arsenal, Brentford, Luton. I’d say that’s a very kind set of fixtures to given so far this season. Should at least be on about 7-9 points.

Burnley & Sheffield United comfortably beaten as well although their starts have been much tougher.

Luton play Burnley this week in their catch up game.
Would probably back Luton to win that at the moment.

Another mauling for Bournemouth yesterday. If they lose to Everton next week you'd imagine Iraola will be on the hot seat. Could be Lopetegui rolling up there?

That would be first game against us, can't see him going there tbh, but as discussed his options in the short to medium look slim
