Relegation Thread 2023/24

Depends what they want I suppose. He’s capable of going in and stabilising both - which they need more than anything at the moment.

I’m sure Everton’s owners had some involvement with Sevilla so maybe that’s not beyond the realms of possibility.
Those owners are the reason he wanted out of there

They only own 5% of Sevilla or something. Pretty sure he got sacked on merit anyway, properly limped over the line in 2021/22 from having an actual title challenge (similar to us under Lage having a genuine chance of Europe in February to looking like the worst team in the league by the end of the season) and started 2022/23 appallingly.

Lopetegui won't go to Everton as they have a worse squad than we had in December 2022 but no money to fix it.

Sevilla fans weren’t sad to see him go IIRC.

Was very much a Nuno-style "what a shame this is the end of the road" feel for sure.

But his record in his final few months was awful (relative to expectations at Sevilla)

P25 W6 D13 L6 in the league and started the CL group with P3 W0 D1 L2 F1 A8 (the solitary point there being a 0-0 draw with Copenhagen).

Cheers, sounds like my hippocampus has dropped a howler here.

Dyche's home record for Everton:

P13 W4 D1 L8 F8 A18 Pts 13

A huge issue for a manager who historically has been very poor in away games in the Premier League.

I like to browse the Grand Old Team forum from time to time. It's just total misery, they'd be so much happier competing near the top of League One

What's his away record?
Think he's won two out of 12 with Everton, one being that freakish 5-1 at Brighton last season.

With Burnley:

14/15: 3/19
16/17: 1/19
17/18: 7/19
18/19: 4/19
19/20: 7/19
20/21: 6/19
21/22: 1/15

Gives him 31 wins from 141 PL away games. I think!

They had one of the best CB pairings in the League (and probably Europe) at the time in Carlos & Koundé but they were sold against his wishes and replaced by 2 inexperienced kids. That plus a bit of burn out, the off field issues which prevented him taking the Wolves job the first time we offered it to him and a few players coming to the end of their usefulness was what did for him.

If Lope left us because he didn't like the direction of the club, then there is not a chance in hell he's going to a basket case club like Everton. They have a points deduction looming, are in the shit financially and may get new owners who will do the bare minimum to keep things afloat. I'd hazard a guess and say that deal may not go through and then the status quo continues with all their fans hating the owner, Dyche and the vast majority of the playing staff.

Everton keeping Dyche would be the best business Wolves could do all season long, he is shiiiiiiiiite

Also, on the supposed points deduction -is there really no predetermined list of punishments? Are they just going to make it up on a case by case basis???
