Relegation Thread 2023/24

Over the course of a38 game season, injuries and suspension will impact Luton even more than others. Will be stunned if they stay up

Iirc Everton have some kind of hearing about their FFP breaches this month. I wonder if that will have any bearing

Luton running at 0.5PPG and hard to see them getting much from their next four games:

Nottm Forest (A)
Aston Villa (A)
Liverpool (H)
Man Utd (A)

That takes you deep into late November.

Oh and 80s Neil Webb in charge of Bournemouth is going to get sacked soon. They are shit.

But he's a class manager!?!? We've been told umpteen times how much of an upgrade Bournemouth made when they sacked O'Neil and appointed a bloke who can't even beat Everton.

I believe the jury is still out on whether or not them “sacking” O’Neil was a good choice. Although it’s pretty clear they got the replacement wrong.

Needs some moments of genius from Diego Tavernier.

O'Neil's record post-World Cup was not particularly good.

Three of those seven wins were against the relegated teams (so big wins, but objectively teams you should beat if they're worse than Bournemouth), another was against us when we all know they were dreadful, and lost all of his last four by an aggregate of 7-1. I can see why they changed it, especially as the ownership had switched hands. Iraola doesn't look like he has a clue what's required in this league though and as I mentioned earlier in the week, using loads of your budget on not one but two injured players is spectacularly dumb from someone at the club.

Not really my point. I've no interest in that, just cheap point scoring.

See what happens tomorrow, hopefully the status qou will not be resumed.

If we do win tomorrow (big if of course, though as I marked out on the build-up thread, Villa's recent record here is appalling) then I think we're a fair way clear for ages without even doing anything. Luton, Burnley, Sheff Utd and Bournemouth just aren't going to win many games.

Said before Everton have had the kindest of starts and still only at 1ppg. Fulham, Villa, Wolves, Sheff Utd, Arsenal, Brentford, Luton, Bournemouth.
Absolutely no reason they shouldn’t be on 10+ points already

Going make yourself a homemade well done badge made out of tin foil and discarded cardboard blue Peter style.

Collins 'cleared' straight to McTominay for the equaliser
We dodged a bullet there in getting our money back. Nothing I've seen since August 2022 convinces me he's not just Stearman with shorter hair and less overt PASHUN.

My apologies for saying we should have signed him. When you're right 52% of the time, you're wrong 48% of the time.

Was a touch unlucky, Mctom picked it out of the air pretty deftly. I recognized the "oh, fuck. What I have done?" head-in-hands immediately though. And chuckled

(Still think he's decent)
