REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

Scotland seek a further independence referendum in either 2018 or 2019.

Always was going to happen, sad to say but it seems that Brexit will almost certainly spell the end of the UK.

D-Cam engineers a situation out of nowhere which throws us out of the EU and threatens the entire United Kingdom, May behaves in such a belligerent, pig-headed fashion that the worst case scenarios now look likely.

I'm so glad that we have the party in charge who are a safe pair of hands.

Cripes!

Will the EU let them in?

What is the impact of them leaving on the economy?

Its a government seemingly on a mission to completely isolate itself from any outside influence.

Spain have said they will veto it as they are afraid of a Basque and Catalan uprising and France have said no too. I think it is a net benefit to the rest of the UK for Scotland to leave at this moment in time, although I'm sure there will be lots of negotiations over who owns what and for how long.

The problem is that while Westminster seem intent on more or less forcing them out by offering them no kind of concessions at all, it's still very much a narrow split either way on who actually wants independence. So once again you're engineering a situation whereby a massive swathe of the native population will be completely disillusioned if and when the vote is to Leave.

It's an awful way to run a country, inspiring division.

It's the biggest open goal Labour will ever have. Who wants a Government who actively rips up the Union?

Unfortunately this one as they will achieve what they want and that is power for at least a decade.

I don't want Scotland to leave but if they do get in the EU I might go and live there instead.

It is however an excellent way to protect ones own interests, rather than governing i the interests of all. Divide & conquer and all that?

Unequivocally however, cameron has to be answerable for his immense cowardice. He wanted the referendum to silence his backbenchers. He lied, unequivocally in saying he would go with the outcome of the vote, and then didn't even last 12 hours before resigning and running away, throwing his toys out the pram. He refused point blank to accept any responsibility for his actions/inactions. The big society in action. That shows how much he ever had invested in his statements and proclamations, and tells me much about the party as a whole I'm afraid.

He is the root cause of all this mess.

May has had the chance to at least partially fix it and through her behaviour is making things as bad as they can be, so she's not getting off the hook either.

Neither of them care about anything other than power.

Maybe not:

Let's see what our esteemed Führer has to say:

Another referendum would be divisive and cause huge economic uncertainty
