REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

It won’t get through parliament. Not a chance.

Although watching Rees-Mogg being forced to vote for it as he is now a cabinet member should be amusing.

If the DUP were onboard, it stood half a chance of squeaking through.

It's taken away their veto, though, and it would take the mother of all bungs to counteract that, so I suspect it's dead in the water.

New deal actually seems to be worse than the May deal. Main opposition parties have immediately said they are against. It won’t pass.

At this point the question is criminal incompetence or is actual corruption, is he in league with those who would benefit from brexit?

"Regulatory checks & customs controls between GB & NI" would damage the fabric of the Union.

"No British Conservative government could or should sign up to any such arrangement."

Guess who said this?

Clue: He's a big fat lying cunt who likes to wear a jacket that says "Prime Minister".

Rees-Mogg is, I don't think Johnson himself is. He's just a halfwit who wants power for the sake of it.

Labour were never going to agree to anything Boris put forward anyways as they are now all in on the 2nd Ref but this deal looks a corker. Somehow Boris who hated May's deal and spent 2 years rippign it apart has managed to include all the shit he hated and chucked in some more shit. I look forward to see him denying he ever said bad things about May's deal.

£8bn of short positions depending on leaving on 31 October have been set up by funds in favour of, inter alia, AbdP Johnson and D Cummings.

Got a link for that Paddy?

Rees-Mogg was asked this question in an interview on Channel 4 News recently and he categorically denied that he dealt with currency trades or had any links that did. I think it was Hammond that said Johnson's backers would make a fortune if the pound collapsed and not Johnson himself.

Cummings is well quoted as wanting to bring the whole system down so I'm not sure he would have those positions either.

.

Johnson's sister went down that route. Saying his backers all needed us to crash out on the 31st and he was acting under the pressure from those people.

So from what I can see

Boris will only put the deal up for a vote if he thinks he can win
Labour want a 2nd ref voted on where the options on the paper will be Remain or the Boris Deal

He won’t be putting it to the vote then. Get the pen out and start writing that extension letter de Pfeffel

BREAKING: Labour say they will back an amendment putting Boris Johnson’s deal to a confirmatory referendum. Clearest endorsement yet that the “best way through” is to “test public opinion”

DUP confirm they won't vote for the deal. Presume the ERG will as they all love bojo. Further presume the 21 expelled will to get back the whip. Where does it leave the arithmetic?

Gove:

There will be no second referendum. It ain’t happening, no way

We will be leaving on 31 October no matter what the Benn Act says.

They are doubling down on this to try and railroad the DUP into supporting them. And appear blind to both the parliamentary arithmetic and the clear text of the Benn Act. It’s like Comical Ali with the tanks in the background.

I reckon they lose by <20 votes.

The likes of Kinnock Jr (wanker) won't be enough.

I'd have thought that if there were to be a second referendum, the options should be 'The deal', 'remain' and leave with 'no deal'?
Doubt it will matter anyway as I don't think it will happen.

Letwin is proposing a motion where the bill can be amended and voted on. This means a 2nd referendum could be included in the passing of the bill. That's the worst case scenario for the government and could well happen.
