REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

Wanting people to have a second vote based on the balls up that is Brexit and now that it is clear that we won't do "the easiest trade deal EVER" is not fascist, no.

You talk about people not personally attacking the poster but engaging in debate, well I asked you three questions a few pages back and you totally ignored them. Great debating

Nothing wrong with wanting people to have a second vote. But as Emily Thornberry pointed out what are Labour going to campaign for?

The deal they want to strike or no deal as ET wants to?

I'm in full agreement with what Pie says.

If you 'take back control' or 'detach from the collective' then you must have a plan and there has been a mass fuck-up when it comes to negotitaing that position. I think 'crashing out' which it very much is, cannot be seen as anything but disastrous - I do not want that. If a party is elected that exactly recreates the current arrnangement then I'm all for that as long as the buck stops with Westminster.

My reasons for voting leave are perfectly clear and I have found the discussion here useful, but I do not agree with the train of thought that leavers did not know what they were voting for and were not clear on how it would materialise. As such, the future relationship within Europe should be shaped by political parties and a democratic choice through the ballot box and not another referendum.

My choice would be Corbyn.

Did all Leavers vote for the same reason? If not the vote was flawed.

Your post is admission of voting for something there was no plan for. How could anybody possibly vote for something there is no plan for is beyond me. It's total madness.

In 2016, the government was remain but the Conservative Party did not require its MPs to campaign for remain. I guess it would be similar, the government might be remain but individuals would be free to campaign on either side but this time leave would actually mean something specific.

The reality is, Labour won’t be in government without either or both of the SNP and Lib Dems and the price of coalition with either is almost certainly a government position of remain in a second referendum. Labour’s policy will be determined at conference but is almost certain to be remain too, with a nod to leaving by way of a negotiated deal.

Any negotiated deal is going to include elements that the Brexit Party and their people in the Conservative Party will not be able to stomach. It will be a bloodbath of a second referendum and will make the situation worse, not better.

The 'funny tinge' woman has joined the Lib Dems. Linking up with the homophobe who joined earlier last week.

Raab this morning saying that Boris won't ask for an extension, will effectively ignore the law passed this week and is happy to be challenged in court.

We will either see us leave on Oct 31 or Boris resigns I reckon.

Report in the Independent (I think) that the government will refuse to send an EU commissioner to the EU on 1st November thus rendering the EU unconstitutional and if EU try to change the constitution in advance U.K. will use their veto. Basically saying if the EU refuse an extension we will leave quietly...if they offer an extension we will disrupt their work.

This will play to the base and firm up core support in the lead up to an election and is a play book out of the Trump strategy...the obvious difference though is that the US is a global superpower with significant economic and political leverage.

I think we will leave on 31st October but it will be subject to legal challenges.

Amazing where we are now and what an easy ride these antics are getting from the media. Imagine if Corbyn (or worse- Abbot) had prorogued parliament and was now talking about ignoring the law.

Or Labour had withdrawn the whip from 21 MPs? The hypocrisy in our political discourse at the present time is staggering. I just can’t see how this ends well, the consequences are going to reverberate for years.

Indeed. I'm still waiting for the much discussed Stalinist purge.

The behaviour of the Johnson administration is nothing short of a disgrace. He should be receiving opprobrium from all sides of the media. Of course, the Heil and the Express are leaving him alone but the lack of really strident criticism outside the Mirror and the Guardian is shameful.

John Bercow to make a statement at 3.30pm. Is it...

1) Brexit related?
2) Resigning?
3) Prorogation related?
4) Complaining about being opposed at the next General Election?

It'll be to do with these SO24s that Grieve and Corbyn have put forward.

Basically Grieve would quite like Cummings to be formally outed as a dreadful prick. Don't know what Jezward wants.

Standing down if Election voted for tonight, if not he will do so on the 31st October.

31st October it is then

He's off then.

Either tonight (should they vote for an election) or after 31st October. Making sure his replacement is picked in the Parliament.

Standing ovation from one side of the house and a scattering from those on the other.

This is on!

Come on Megamind, let's see your messages.

Raab has said this evening "The government will always respect the rule of law" however "how they respect it is normally straightforward, but sometimes it can be more complex"

So they will ignore it then
