REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

Austerity has led to tens of thousands dying early. It has objectively resulted in earlier deaths. We all know this.
Brexit is merely the next step.
The people who will be hardest hit, will be the most vulnerable, and the most at risk.

Of course, you'll likely revert to "but labour..."

Labour? :icon_lol:

Corbyn asks for the backing of MPs to form a govt long enough to extend A50 and call a GE to avoid No Deal. Lucas and SNP on board but already rejected by Swinson. FFS.

Havent those who have rejected it done so because 1) They dont want Corbyn as a PM even if temp and 2) They think a ref should come before a GE

It needs sorting one way or the other - extending’s not an option.

Obviously, only a small part of the economy, but I assume it’s not the only industry. Currently dealers of EU manufactured trucks and plant can’t currently quote for new equipment as they aren’t sure whether the price after October will include tariffs or not.

We already know there aren't the numbers for a 2nd Ref and in any case it would take a while to organise which would be presumably less palatable as Corbyn would be PM during that time.

It looks like Swinson and TIG don't want Corbyn under any circumstances even if it means No Deal. To his credit Dominic Grieve said he was considering the offer.

Saw a thing on Twitter this morning on voting if the ref was held again

55 - 45 in favour of Remain.

It also had a breakdown of party support. It was something like 72% of Tories = Leave. 74% of Labour = Remain 90% of Lib Dem = Remain.

My fave bit though was 98% Brexit Party = obviously leave but what on earth are the other 2% doing there? Did they not get the memo...how can you vote BP but not agree with their 1 and only policy

Show that 76.7% of polls are made up...
85.6% I believe.

I dont really pay much attention to polls but that 2% remain for the BP made me smile (I wonder if it's their MEP's after discovering they like the wage they are currently picking up)

I’d say they’re probably that thick they don’t know why they joined the Brexit Party.

It's not really a new stat. In the referendum 2% of UKIP voters voted to remain.

It's a ridiculous idea. He can't get an election so wants MP's to put him in without the public. What he's suggesting is a coup.

It's the worst idea since the Brexit referendum and shows how desperate Corbyn and his cult are for power. I'm finding the hard left nut jobs as repugnant as the Brexit Party.

I wish they'd all fuck off.

It's gone beyond 2nd referendums for me now. If he now genuinely believes that remaining is the best option then he should go for the vote of no confidence, form the coalition, get the 66% he needs in Parliament and call the General Election. Campaign on a remain platform with a guaranteed coalition with the Libs and SNP in the event of a hung Parliament.

Unless Europe blink we are looking at no deal or no Brexit lets not piss around with another referendum. Do what you think is right for the country not some further half arsed fudge. Make the GE the referendum it's his best chance of beating Johnson anyway

The problem with Corbyn saying he's a remainer is that nobody believes him. He needs to step aside so somebody credible can step in.

That's the only way Labour can win a GE.

If he did remain then I hope the Lib Dems win outright or at least can form a majority with the SNP as a coalition. Never going to happen but I can hope.

If Corbyn REALLY believed in remain he would want the no confidence vote to lead to a caretaker government to oversee the second referendum, not to force a second general election where he promises to campaign for a second referendum. Hardly a surprise the Lib-Dems told him to get bent.

Much better to have the Country run by the extreme right wing Tories and the cult of Boris we currently have... ;)

Nope. Boris is an idiot. And Corbyn is no better. At this moment I would rather Sturgeon was running the whole joint and she isn’t even an MP!

A temporary govt whereby he immediately extends A50 and calls a GE? Bit of a shit coup.

We know the numbers aren't there for a second referendum. Get Tories out, extend A50, call a GE whereby you are free vote to vote (or not) for a party offering a second referendum. The Lib Dems just don't want Corbyn. Even for a bit as a single issue govt. Ridiculous.

You can't seriously be advocating a process which is unelected power by the back door? Isn't this exactly how every military junta starts? Unseat the current government and install yourselves in a 'temporary' position until said military can install a government (Egypt seems to be the last place I remember this happening). It's a power grab however you look at it.

It would be the most undemocratic thing in my lifetime. Thankfully the Lib Dems told Corbyn to sling his hook.
