REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

One of my staunch anti EU Welsh ex workmates has seen the light after realising for every £1 paid in to the EU Wales gets £70 back, and he's realised Wales is pretty much shafted because the government won't be giving them anywhere near that come March, and a lot of farms stand a pretty good chance of going under because a lot of income is due to EU grants, but having blue passports and the brexit 50p piece will be a comfort to them in the years to come
Yeah, but Project Fear. Farmers have no need to worry about their rebates under the CAP as the agrifood industry will be decimated by WTO so they can use their fields for all the tents required for those who cannot afford to buy/rent accommodation. Every cloud I guess.

You do know project fear cuts both ways don't you?

I was told by a fairly senior civil servant in Wales that they fully expect 80% of Welsh sheep farming to disappear after Brexit.

I’m sure they’ll get a bail out or is it that the bail out is stopping?

Doesn't matter we can get lamb from Australia and The Land of the Long White Cloud.

Without tarrifs?

So the EU pays British farmers to not produce food or grain as the EU over produces food. Well that's good news for us then as they can produce for the UK and make it a little cheaper and reduce imports post Brexit then?

The point of farming subsidies is to ensure self sufficiency in times of national emergencies.

Still I'm sure sacrificing this on the bonfire if Brexit is well worth it.

Not if there's no farms left because they've all gone because it's not profitable without subsidies

Also the point of tariffs. They are used to protect home-based industries.

I suppose we’ll have to use trident at the same time.
