REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

I am no saint when it comes to forum etiquette and behaviour but actively and publicly ignoring someone and encouraging others to do the same would be totally unacceptable in real life.

They have refused to put anyone up for Newsnight, it's not difficult to see why

Long overdue that the media give them a battering.

The 'Brexit means Brexit' program on BBC2 last night was very good. Followed different MP's over a year from the vote to the beginning of the talks. Funny and quite alarming in places.

Well worth watching.

Fuck that, i did fruit picking when I was younger, proper hard work.

I heard a different clip of this interview that was even worse. People gave Diane Abbott a hard time (rightly) but this was a different level of incompetence.

I heard it live on my drive home, was very funny.

Its very interesting to see how Abbot gets absolutely castigated in the press and online, but this gets shrugged off as 'that's Boris'

An incompetent black, female socialist v. an incompetent rich, white, male Tory - no contest for the right wing media I suppose.

Eddie Mair completely destroying Boris on PM today is well worth a listen:

Abbott’s disastrous interview mattered. It mattered to the media. People cited it when revealing how they were going to vote. But Johnson’s won’t matter. It will be filed in the folder marked The Joy of Good Old Boris. Abbott’s brain fade played into all sorts of perceptions society has about her as a tad too assertive for its taste, about women who take senior roles, about black Britons who dare to peer over the parapet. You have to be twice as good if you’re outside the cohort that runs the world, our parents told us: parity doesn’t cut it.

That doesn’t stop women or minorities reaching positions of great importance in modern Britain for in all sorts of ways we have made great strides. But the stakes are different. God help you if you get it wrong. Brace for the hardest impact.

Absolute tool. He voted for 'sovereignty' which we had anyway. Referendums are such a terrible idea, as proved by that idiot.

Cruella offers a guarantee that any EU citizen resident here for five years can stay. I applaud this but:

A) why has it taken so long, shredding goodwill and causing needless concern in the process

B) I was assured that offering this up front is not how you negotiate, something something poker something something

You'd need a heart of stone not to laugh. Does he grow olives too?

I know this is one example but I'm still convinced a lot of people didn't know what they were voting for.

This guy clearly didn't consider the potential impact brexit would have on his business and voted for something that was already in place
