REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

This is the thing with all the Brexit solutions - they're all absolutely tiny marginal gains, and all highly hypothetical with any number of scenarios where they fall down before even getting started. The whole thing is a ridiculous gamble for virtually zero reward even in the absolute best case scenario (which will never happen).

I have a scenario, not sure how workable it would be or even if it's possible as it sounds too simplistic and probably naive.

Let's just assume we cant work out a deal with Germany for their cars, and we decide to dramatically reduce the amount of German cars coming into the UK. To fill the 'gap', as a country we then start buying more Japanese cars, with no Tariffs.

Could this happen ? Anyone who could afford it could still import an Audi with Tariffs, so they would still have that choice.

Would we build more Japanese Car Plants in the UK, creating thousands of jobs ?

I put EU trade deal Japan into Google and first hit said:

"The 17th round of negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement between the EU and Japan took place in Brussels in September 2016." There's your problm. A trade deal is far from simple despite what Farage claims. 17 rounds and still no deal says it all.

As for stopping German cars coming to the UK - your average rep driving a BMW won't want a Toyota Avensis!

But we'll have senile British judges (remember Lord Pickles?!) in charge so will have our country back.

I will back you up on this, I have a Mercedes for my company car - I'm not swapping it (except for a newer model in a couple of years)

Meh, no point in company cars these days with all the tax you have to pay.

Plenty of value in it for me, a month's tax for car and fuel combined would only fuel me to work and back for a week and a half if I was using my own cash in my own car, no concerns over maintenance or associated costs, even got a garage sat at the bottom of the carpark at work so zero inconvenience for anything that needs doing.

Worth it for me too. The amount of miles I put in some months, the tax wouldn't cover the fuel, let alone taxing, insuring and maintaining it.

Tony Blair and New Labour saw to it that we will never have our Country back.

Anyway, Theresa has already signed the letter that will begin the UK's departure from the EU.

This gives official notice under Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, and will be delivered to European Council president Donald Tusk on Wednesday. So to all you Remainer's out there......have a nice day !

But look on the bright side, you've got a full two years to Leave the country, so there's plenty of time for you to Emigrate.

You can't even see the country is fucked and that the low paid are living in poverty. The problem for many remainers is that they thought about themselves and their situations, not that of the majority of the country on low pay and having no job security.
Sick of seeing people who have relatively good jobs and a comfortable lifestyle, moaning because the people who have been asked to pay the the price have had enough and have voted to leave the EU.

Stay classy Prog.

Also, why would we need to leave? In two years time the whole country will be out of poverty, we will have the greatest trade deals ever seen, everybody is going to be in work and earning more money, and all jobs will be filled by British people. Why would we give up the chance to live in this paradise?

I opted out and took an allowance plus the tax free 45p a mile. Even with buying my own car, insuring and putting a bit by for emergencies I'm still massively better off.

Is that because of the EU or the British government? Haha. Sort of question I always get asked.

It will take more than 2 years, but we will get there.

No we won't. Your utopia is utterly unachievable.

My Utopia starts today. Fuck the EU, we are getting our country back. The EU is like a sect, you have been brainwashed to love them and dislike your family. Soon you will realise that the sect (EU) didn't love you at all, they just wanted your money, it was your family ( Great Britain) that really loves you. Today is the start of freedom day.

If you think the Tories - and they're going to be the Government for the foreseeable future - care about the low paid is delusional. Interested to know how you think you know about my lifestyle by the way?

You're the only one who sounds brainwashed.

I'll stay if that's alright with you? I look forward to seeing the trickle of Brexiters that have already seen the error of their ways become a flood. I think the preferred phrase to people who voted out and subsequently lose their jobs will be "suck it up"! Enjoy today because it's downhill from here!
