REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

I'm really not sure there are race economic disparities in the UK.

Most of our disparities are based on poor education leading to poor earnings leading to the next gen children getting poor education etc etc. The referendum shows this very nicely - a continuation of an Eton debate between 2 class mates.

The privileged few in this country and their stoking of class and racial divisions are the real travesty here

Voting to leave does not mean people are racists.

Nobody has made that generalisation though have they? Some people will have voted to leave as they believe that the EU project is failing and that they wanted us out but you cannot deny that hostility towards immigrants has played a part in some of the votes on the leave side. You also cannot deny that there are unpleasant racist undertones to a section of that. Of course it doesn't mean that people who voted to leave are racist but it is a rallying call to a small section of the support that is.

The amount wiped off the stock market in one day us about 25 years if EU membership costs. Well done.

Hopefully this is isolated, but possibly an indication of the Pandora's box that this referendum has opened. On a bus in leeds today, a young couple with an infant were happily talking to each other. They were talking in their native tongue, Polish. Two indigenous youths decided to verbally abuse them and basically inferred that as of today they (the young family) are no longer welcome in "Our country" as a result of last night's vote.

Cue an elderly guy (who later revealed that he was in his 80s) reprimanding the 2 youths for their attitude. Ensuing unpleasantness, racial slurs, threats of violence, the Polish mother heartbroken, fearful of her family's safety and eventually the bus driver stopping the bus and calling for the police who duly arrived and removed the 2 youths allowing the bus to continue on it's very awkward journey.

That is something to make you proud to be British. That is something to help raise the flag and declare "Independence Day".

The tip of the iceburg. We have now legitamised overt racism. Something that the right minded have tried to combat for decades if not centuries. Well done. Congratulations.

See LeedsWolf copy and paste comment.

That's quite poor Frank, think you owe Leeds an apology.

Even though you may not see or experience racism it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

I don't want an apology. I just want the $$$$ to leave me alone.

But like has been said, it's pretty irrelavent unless it stays that way, in fact I'm sure the City have made some pretty good money from it.

And it's still at about the same level as a month ago.

Like I said, I'm not concerned with today's loss, it's how long the losses last for.

I truly believe Britain is and will continue to be one of the most if not the most tolerant and diverse country in the world long after we have left the union. It is part of what makes us great. As regards racists- yes there are plenty in the UK. There are plenty in the USA too. There are plenty everywhere. What the uk has shown by and larege over the last 30 years is that racism is not the norm and will not be generally tolerated, same as sexism. There are a hell of a lot more nationlistic countries that the UK . Poland and Croatia for starters!

There are people I really dont like. They can be male, female black white straight or Gay. I dont like them for reasons other than anything to do with their race, sex prefernce or gender .

100,000 people sign a Petition in show of support for Jeremy Corbyn in just half a day.

Make your voice heard against the Blairites and keep Jeremy as rightful leader of the Labour party.
Why is this important?

People don't want him to resign despite how they voted in the referendum.

Do you think he is the right man to unite labour and mount a challenge to enable at worst a hung parliament at the next election? If so keep him. If not its a good time to ditch

I think you owe me the apology for your foul mouthed rant.

FFS acting like my pair of 6 year olds.

Leeds was out of order, but neither have you apologised for calling him, and by extension his wife, a liar

Let me 'ignore' Frank and it wouldn't be a problem.

It isn't a copy and paste. It was witnessed by my wife and relayed to me. She was a passenger on that bus. So my wife is a liar?

I do not know your wife, and would never call you or her a liar. I just find it strange that you posted something that has been on social media several times today in different guises.

Anyway I am moving on.

I hope that in the next 30 years, we have a generation of young people, who are proud to be British, not in a nationalistic way, but are proud of our herritage, history, armed forces, heads of state and politicians. Instead of generations of young people that are indoctrinated to put unelected buracratic officials from other countries, before are own goverments.

We can only do this by uniting are people, working hard, respecting are brothers from other ethnicities that live in the UK and build a nation to be proud of.

The EU is a failure. It has been for years. It's time to move on.

It is a problem. You were very abusive, and I find that unacceptable. Putting people on "ignore" or "unfriending" them on social media is frankly very childish. Whatever my faults I have never been abusive.
