REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

Hmmmm. Okay. So how will that work with the utopian target of free trade with China to replace that with the EU we have now?

Hmm. We thrash out a deal which is fair and balanced to both sides?
Unlike what we currently have.

How do you ensure its fair when the Chinese economy is 4x larger than ours? They have all the leverage.

Actually, we *could* form some sort of alliance - a union, if you will - with other European countries to boost our collective bargaining power....

Yes, as it stands they have a lot more to lose than we do. I suppose you go into negotiations with a minimum point in mind where beyond that can be no deal.
I suppose you achieve a deal which is beneficial to the future of your people not of multinationals and billionaires (and foreign oppressive regimes like China).
I wouldn't be too keen on the idea of sacrificing the future of my country and my people for the sake of short term financial gain for a few rich individuals and making foreign super powers richer.

Can't continue this discussion I'm afraid as I've got a busy day ahead. Packing Chinese stock into my van ready to sell at a good 'mark-up' to Irish people over the weekend. I didn't make the rules, I'd rather be producing something but I can't get a proper job.

Not ideal, but this story is becoming more and more possible:

EU negotiators will offer British people the chance to individually opt-in and remain EU citizens as a proposal in Brexit negotiations, the European Parliament’s chief negotiator has confirmed.

It's nice to see the idea hasn't been thrown out completely by the EU (the ball is in the Conservative court to do that).

How do you square that with your support for Nigel Farage - who a couple of weeks ago had a party held for him paid for by billionaires?

And if you look at who has bankrolled UKIP over the years - Arron Banks, Richard Desmond, Stuart Wheeler - all were/are very rich men.

The greatest trick UKIP ever pulled was convincing the working class they're on their side.

I think that's the greatest trick Labour ever pulled. They've been rumbled thanks to Blair and his mates.

Not to mention the REMAIN campaign was largely funded by American investment banks and multinationals, whose only interest was to make more money and impovershing the poor!

So we slap massive import duties on goods produced in China, the majority of which we don't make in the UK anymore and even if we did would still be more expensive than those bought from China. So the downtrodden and beaten British who have risen up to fight against their foreign overlords get to pay higher prices for stuff and the additional revenue raised on duty goes on tax cuts for the rich, because we have a Tory government...cracking idea.

Who said anything about tax cuts for the rich?
Wouldn't be so bad paying higher prices for stuff if there was full employment.
Whatever anyway. My main reason for supporting brexit is to bring about the collapse of the eu.
Enjoy it while you can.

We have a Tory government, that's the way it works.

Being in a minority doesnt make you wrong.

Nah. Cats out of the bag I'm afraid. :)
Time will tell.
Wrong about I.S.
Wrong about the G.E.
Wrong about Brexit.
Wrong about Trump.
Confidence must have taken a bit of a knock for the liberal left.
