REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

BBC Breakfast missing the point. Purposely or not.

So, will you vote to allow Brexit?

We are voting whether it's the right time to action Article 50. The British people have already voted to leave the EU, so I wouldn't stop that.

So, all MPs will except that the British people have voted leave and vote yes.

It did replace the House of Lords. There have always been these levels of appeal, and they are there as checks and balances. Of course, I hope the Supreme Court kicks it out too as that will leave the only avenue of appeal as the European Courts, which would be hugely ironic.

Labour and the Lib Dems should trawl for evidence of all the prominent Brexit campaigners stating that the rest of the EU will agree to the continuation of the Single Market and insist that remaining in the SM is a condition of agreeing to triggering Article 50. I doubt there is a single Brexit campaigner who didn’t assure voters that the Germans will want to sell us BMWs and the French will want to sell their cheese and Champagne. Gather the evidence and put a coherent case that that is what people voted for.

Problem is that if we go in with a public commitment that we will definately be in the single market, the terms presented will be awful. We need to go in intending to be in the single market, but be prepared not to be if the costs are too high.

It's the same both ways - the number of my friends that post the guardian or the huffington post on Facebook - seriously, itheyre comics like the Mail, how can anyone take them (including the Mail and the express) seriously?

Bollocks ha ha ha , i like the Grauniad, but that doesn't mean it's my bible. Every newspaper spouts utter bollocks for a story every now and again.

I really believe at the outset, we can go in with whatever we like and are going to get serious short shrift.

Leaving the EU cannot be seen as rewarding for Britain, or there will be nobody left in the EU a week later.

Not sure that the EU will hang together whatever we do/have done (though we haven't actually done anything yet)

Eurozone will come under increasing pressure with any further downturn of the economy, which is likely, & may well come apart at the seams

Personally i think the French and German elections will dictate the future, or not , of the EU. Brexit will be irrelevant.

The independent as evidence? I'm going to find a story in the daily mail with a contrary view to counter your arguament in equally classy style...

Genuine question, but what's wrong with the Independent?

The Independent is proper clickbait these days, they really are becoming a slightly less annoying version of Buzzfeed.

It's sad really, the Indy used to be a marginally left leaning paper, more thoughtful than the Mirror, less blinkered than the Guardian. Now it is OLO it's a less popular version of the Huffington Post

It's just the daily mail of the left - far out, over the top rubbish.

To be fair, there is the occasional good article in it, but they're pretty hard to find these days.
