Is there one Christmas that sticks in your mind as being one of the best ever ??

I've had far too many Christmases to pick one out, but do remember the ones we always used to spend at my grandparents (Dad's side) when I was small. Open log fire, sing songs around the piano (not much TV that long ago) & as they had quite a large house a Christmas tree that seemed to be about 20ft tall (as I was only 3 or 4 & not as tall as I am now, it was probably only 6 or 7 ft in reality).

Gran was strict & no presents till lunch was finished & cleared up - torture when you are that age!

Not one in particular but all my childhood Christmas memories are pretty magical. The same traditions year after year during the day then all the family round to ours in the evening for a party. It all changed after my Mum died and it was only after I met my wife that Christmas started to become a lot of fun again. Now our daughter is just starting to grasp the concept of Santa and the magic can begin again :) I love Christmas.

Christmas is rubbish. I can tolerate it but I don't like it.

I don't like materialism, I don't like misty eyed faux-sentalimism, I don't like everywhere being fucking closed, I don't like having to be nice to people who I don't give a toss about for the other 350+ days a year, I don't like the TV schedules being crammed full of crap. Not my bag at all.

You old misery guts. Christmas is great.
Christmas is the best time ever for me, but can understand that it's not up everyones street. I probably drive folk up the wall with my Christmas chatter, but I cant help it :(

You don't drive me up the wall at all if that helps ;)

It's not for me at all. But then nor are any forced social occasions, I have never been one for parties or anything like that. I see who I want to when I want to, I don't need to be putting on an effort. I also fundamentally disagree with how materialistic Christmas is, I find it pretty distasteful. But each to their own, I'm a tolerant soul these days.

Well that's good, and I'm sure you would tell me if ever I do DW !!

Lately for me Christmas's mean a time when I get to see my family , which makes it even more special. I don't know, I suppose the older I get , the more I enjoy it. Which is kind of weird in a way

I'm with Deutsch.

Christmas for me is just time off work and another day of the year.

I'm not fussed about seeing family or giving presents. It's OK when it happens but not something I particularly look forward to or make a big deal of.
Christmas is for the kids.

I think Mark has hacked Bear's account.

I'm not mad on Christmas, like Deutsch i'd rather see people as and when i want to, not have half the family forced upon on me because they feel obliged when they check the calendar. It's alright for a few hours i suppose but after i while i start to get a bit bored with the house full of people, not being able to do what i want but it's not the end of the world.

Me and my sister have found a fun way to entertain ourselves the last couple of years though, trying to get different family members drunk or at least drinking random things they wouldn't, who'd have thought you'd ever get 3 80+ women drinking shots of Aftershock in your front room? They even seemed to like it too!

I remember one Christmas (when I was about 10 I reckon) and I got a Go-Kart for a present. It was the best present I ever got, but the main reason I remember that Christmas was that there was snow on the ground - quite a lot of it. We never had a car, but two of my older sisters who were married and lived in a village about 7 miles away did. So we would go there for Christmas day, and travelling that far in the snow by car seemed a major adventure at the time.
When I was a kid, the great thing about Christmas was the stuff you'd have that you didn't see the rest of the year; dates, Turkish Delight, nuts, 'Party Seven' cans of beer with Sparklets beer taps etc. Seems fairly meaningless now because we can basically get what we want, whenever we want it.
I don't like the material side of Christmas these days, but I like to try and create a special atmosphere on the day though, whisky in my tea in the morning - (because it's what my father always did), Log burner fired up in the lounge, Christmas songs & carols in the background, a special dinner and good wine, maybe a Christmassy candle burning. Don't really need the telly but if it is on I would prefer an old James Bond film to anything.
Suppose I'm a traditionalist.
Oh, yeah, nearly forgot! Snow on the ground..

Breathe
Beat Her

I also like:

Ah Beret
Hat Beer
Bra Thee

And from my real name:

Cab Crime Honk
Bear Chin Mock
Mi Ban Her Cock
Mach One Brick

This is a great idea!
I think that everyone should run their name through 'Wordsmith' and come up with a decent anagram.
Then adopt that as their forum name.
Everyone recognises you through your avatar anyway, so who cares if I suddenly become 'Hung Own Lift' or 'Won Filth Gun' or even 'Who Flung Tin'..

Biting Beaten Pup (PPB) There's over 170,000 for her!!

Whereas Penk only has 3! The best of which is 'Knew Flop'....

Is there any truth in ' A way to a mans heart is through his stomach ' ?That would mean entering the man's anus,so no...the way to a man's stomach is through his heart maybe! :)

Would you say most men do something nice for their partners in the hope of getting something nice back ? It's been so long,I don't remember.

I was about 9 or 10 and had one leg bandaged up due to a abscess on my knee. I got a big yellow Tonka toy lorry and some cars......... particularly significant as I never used to get anything other than a colouring book and a tangerine. Poor then poor today :drink2: leads to my alcholism

I really, really dislike Christmas. I do not have a favourite but have a long list of ones I have hated. It was so bad that for the first ten years of work I volunteered to work Xmas day and Boxing day just to avoid it. There is nothing worse that kids complaining they didnt get what they thought they should have ( not mine they wouldnt have dared!) suffering relatives ( I only see you once a year for a reason you know!) the over priced commercialism and having put lots of time effort and consideration into someones present you either get a shit one in return or a smile and the words" its lovely did you keep the receipt?" Nope I am with Jehovahs witnesses when it comes to crimbo.... bah humbug... Ebeneezer Cyberman
