Pre-Season Games 2018

There's plenty of sources on both sides who say we've bid for Zinchenko. He may want to go elsewhere but it's clear we want him.

Don't think anybody disputes that Bear. I'm with Dan in that I think Zinchenko will be a CM not a LWB.

If I remember right when he first signed for Norwich in Jan 2012 and he came in for a few games the end of the season the fans thought he was decent, played alongside a rubbish defence that shipped quite a few goals but he put in some good performances. Was rubbish from 2013 and they were glad to be rid of him by the end and thought he was shit even for the Championship, as they told us at the time. As we saw he was pretty good for the Championship with the right coach and players around him, better than Danny and Stears for sure.

If our aim is just to stay up then he'll be ok as a starter, but that is most likely not the case. Last year makes me think Bennett would be fine as a backup, hasn't made a great deal of errors it's just his distribution isn't the best but even that has been improving.

If we have Douglas, Vinagre and now Giles for that position - I’d agree with that. He can always cover there too if we have an injury crisis.

Bennett will be fine as an otion for us this season. I’ve been so impressed with his consistency! The only thing I found strange is how he was dropped for Batth a couple of times, the difference in quality was very clear

His distribution was awful when we first signed him. On the few occasions he played early on, he just lamped it anywhere and got a bollocking off either Coady or Nuno, whoever was nearest. He's really worked hard on it. Fair play.

He's had a cracking second half of the season and I've been impressed by his athleticism at times. I think he'd be OK in the PL but nothing special, I'm not sure he could cope with Hazard running at him with Doc ambling back

I agree with this. His attitude has been excellent and he's clearly a popular figure behind the scenes. His distribution has improved massively and he has that edge to his game where he'll leave a foot in occasionally, or give a little nudge or pull of the shirt to the opposition when he can get away with it - you need that type of player in the side. I'm not suggesting Ryan Bennett is untouchable - because that would be daft - but he's really improved since moving here and gives you a solid 7 out of 10 every week. Definitely a good squad player to have and if he starts against Everton I wouldn't be too upset.

I've always thought Bennett gets a rougher ride than some others. He wasn't in the team initially, the coaching staff worked on developing his game to make sure it fitted our style. He's learned from that, and put it into practise in games, and developed as the season went on. No reason why that couldn't continue. He'll have learned from his past experiences.

Not that I wouldn't be looking to replace if we could get better. However as has been alluded to, I do think that Bennett and Hause could do passable jobs in the PL.
If they show they're not up to it, then we know what will happen, and quickly.

On Hause, despite him being very much a fringe player the past 12 months, he does seem to be involved in a lot of media/publicity stuff (for a fringe player).

I don't know about a rough ride. Just he obviously isn't as good as either Coady or Boly, and that's who he plays alongside.

I really enjoyed watching Bennett develop. You saw his confidence grow week on week and he even started making a few passes with the outside of his boot down the line. There's probably no better feeling than having that faith in you and I think it showed particularly at Bristol when he made a beeline to the bench and coaches.

I assume Bonatini isn’t in there due to the whack he took in Switzerland.

Excited to potentially see Rui and Raul play today!

Can't see Raul's name in the squad.

Hang on I can't see Costa, Cav or Jota either. I don't think my tumble tap shows the whole image.
